The organization consistently undermines its own employees through poor leadership decisions and blatant favoritism. A new PGM r was hired over highly capable internal candidates—individuals who had already proven themselves more than qualified. The hire is largely ineffective, echoing the Leadership's views without demonstrating any real understanding of the role or the team’s work.
Workload distribution is severely mismanaged. Newly hired staff were given minimal responsibilities (roughly 20% of their capacity), while existing project managers were forced to operate at unsustainable levels (often exceeding 120%). Raising concerns about this imbalance was treated as a liability—those who spoke up were quickly exited.
Opportunities to pursue projects aligned with your skills or career interests simply don’t exist. Despite being asked about such interests in interviews, the reality is that you’re only permitted to absorb additional work that others don’t want. The concept of “capacity” is weaponized: you never have capacity for growth opportunities, but always have capacity to take on everyone else’s tasks.
Leadership also demonstrated questionable behavior towards interest in internal committees. In one case, staff were invited to contribute, only for the Leadership to explicitly shut it down. Later, Leadership demanded to know details about the committee—ironically one he had previously attempted to influence years earlier, without success. This speaks to a broader pattern of controlling behavior and undermining employee-led initiatives.
The culture is riddled with preferential treatment, creating inequities that demoralize the team. Unsurprisingly, turnover is among the highest I’ve ever seen—good people leave quickly, and leadership seems unable or unwilling to ask why.
If you’re looking for a healthy environment that values expertise, collaboration, and professional growth, this is not it. Leadership prioritizes their own egos over the team’s success, and until that changes, the cycle of burnout and attrition will continue.
