Pros

Hmmm. Most employees are great to work with but they go through a lot of people.

Cons

You will be hired under false promises and told you will be getting all kinds of things (raises, training, lots of bonuses due to high sales) But in reality the stores sales are from 150k to 210k max and as a designer your expected to bring in 40k - 50k along with 2-3 other designers plus yourself. The sales do not support the sales goals that you will be evaluated on to get your raises. They also use non standard programs that are rarely used and offer zero training for them! You will also have tons of projects and sales building ideas created but are never fully finished or used. The main store in Louisville you have to argue and hope they actually send you what you need for your sales as well. The owner will also throw you under the bus if there is a complaint even if the employees are correct! Do not expect to get paid for what you know, 21 years of being a designer you still will not be paid what you would start out at at one of the big box stores!!!

Pros

High hourly wage Hard working and very friendly co workers make the job tolerable

Cons

Temp and staffing agencies only Little to no break time Management will not hesitate to push you to do dangerous tasks bordering OSHA violations Management will strip you of any assistance without any forethought and expect you to complete a 2-3 man job alone. Management will fire you without warning or discussion of any problems or concerns. Job performance is solely based on how many tickets, or sales you get. This job is perfect if you don't care and just want to suck up the hourly wage as long as you can, but be weary of actually attempting to improve the store in any way other than selling average merchandise for above average prices. This companies concern is money and money only.

Pros

The owner has a lot of business knowledge, seemed to make very wise business decisions, and was always very friendly and helpful. The home improvement industry is booming so naturally, this company stayed fairly busy. There were always fun promotions and projects to work on. The work atmosphere was pretty chill and most employees were helpful across departments.

Cons

Some of the folks placed in management roles were inexperienced with managing people. The result was a micro-management style that resulted in being talked down to or confronted. I listened to one employee be confronted while in the presence of other employees. This had an impact on overall morale.
