Pros

wonderful clients, work, and colleagues better than average pay for CMH setting generous amount of money for continuing education better than average benefits

Cons

Questionable company culture of martyrdom and self-sacrifice - not the worst i've seen, though I personally am in a toxic management situation that has severely affected my mental health. It has been reported to HR and nothing has been done because of office politics

Pros

Amazing front line workers, important work. Lots of good people stuck in a bad org.

Cons

An organization that shields itself from criticism by pointing to the mission. No ways to ask for accountability for those above you in the hierarchy. A strong culture of valuing people who have been around BHCHP for a long time, meaning new people are treated as outsiders for a long time.

Pros

The one thing that gave me faith in my job was seeing the smiles that changes the faces of the patients I work with. It made me feel like I made a difference in an aspect of their lives. I go there everyday and hope that that smile never leaves.

Cons

It isn't the easiest of jobs as some patients transfer their frustrations on the staff, particularly the respite aides. We are the first faces they see in the morning and sometimes at night. We help with the most menial tasks such as feeding, bathing, and other activities of daily living. I am proud of my job, but sometimes racial slurs are hurled, which results in sanctioning of the patients. Actions are taken, but the emotional and physical toil the job takes on you should not be underestimated.
