Pros

The products that Bonterra inherited through the merger are solid and the customer base extensive.

Cons

Customer care is lacking, not because of the customer care teams but because the company has been starved. The knowledge base inside the company is starved. The rounds of layoffs drained the experience. What is left is stretched too thin. Morale is starved. HR's ridiculous incentive plans and the double-speak of "total compensation" is fooling no one. Product vision is absent. With so many existing paths to success trying to bend the customers to a branding exercise instead of unifying the products to build out synergies is silly. It also won't work. Look how well a focus on brand management has turned out for Boeing products. This ship is top heavy and will capsize.

Pros

Generally lovely and collaborative people work here. Or I guess I should say worked here since they’ve laid off 1/3 of the company in the last 12 months.

Cons

- 2 huge rounds of layoffs in 2023, totaling 28% of the company - weekly layoffs in 2024. This is not an exaggeration; they’re going department by department. Also, they’re now calling it “restructuring” rather than layoffs - current CEO is incredibly toxic. Engages with employees in public forums if you dare to disagree with him. Has a weekly blog (eyeroll) where he consistently states that if you’re not with him, you’re against him, and you should feel free to leave.

Pros

Unlimited PTO, talented & good people. The Union has worked very hard to defend employees.

Cons

Within the last year, Bonterra has had 3 rounds of layoffs due to poor leadership, planning, and strategy. Senior leadership is disengaged from their workforce and the new CEO is petulant. He brought his friends into the C-Suite who are bleeding the company dry. They recently admitted to burning $25m each quarter resulting in a net loss in revenue for the company in 2023. Not to mention his dumb newsletter that his employees read and all collectively gawk at. 6 Companies working under one house has led to chaos – priorities shift seemingly daily, making a breaking promises weekly. Its near impossible to stay engaged with what you're doing, as it could be irrelevant tomorrow. There are no standards, poor communication even between necessary stakeholders, and morale has disintegrated. Everyone gets more and more pissed off at senior leadership while they jerk us around with new processes and mental models and work frames. It seems like everyone is busy but nothing substantial is getting done. Pay is below market rate, there is no growth opportunities or promotional ladder, and more and more people disappear (voluntarily or involuntarily) as time goes on. If you take a job here, keep your resume polished. If you're thinking of taking a job here, don't. Ignore the generic positive reviews, they're posted by the company. The ship has been sinking for a while.
