Gone downhill

Pros

Meet some great people, learn a lot about the industry at a decent place. Learn a variety of roles if you’re inclined to do so. Host/togo/server/bartender/manager

Cons

Definitely has gone downhill. I have been here more than 6 years. Many of the items we used to make are now pre packaged and already made. (Salad dressings, mashed potatoes, desserts) Cut a lot of corners on food quality (ex; iceburg lettuce in a salad) As for a server role- Company recently started to add server assistants onto a servers tip out. (Because they can keep them at a lower hourly, instead of paying them a higher hourly and lower tipped amount) This has cut servers tips by a third every day. So you have a larger section, working harder and faster, and are making less money. A general rule is for every $500 in sales, a server should make around 100 in tips. With this new way, I can have $1500 in sales and barely make $200 in tips after the new tip out rates. It’s not working. I’ve been here almost 7 years and am looking for a new job, it’s not worth losing money while working way harder. I was here when bonefish used to be so crowded on any given day of the week, now it’s a ghost town. The corporate side has diminished this once great company.

Pros

Decent money, if you understand the business and are able to work hard.

Cons

Terrible company leadership structure. Bonefish Grill is a company that was built and developed on it's focus on it's own people. Now It's geared directly to shareholders and growing company stock. People are not even a part of the equation anymore. It's sad what Bonefish Grill has become. It used to be run by actual restaurant operators who knew and understood the business. Now the company is run by accountants, brought in from other failing concepts. It's a disgrace now.

Pros

You get to meet some cool people and elevate your bar/food knowledge.

Cons

Your expected to do more side work then is within right. The tip out for bartenders is horrible, host should be paid hourly from the company.
