No intelligence in analytic leadership

Pros

Some employees try to help each other. HR, Finance, Marketing, and IT provide pretty good support for analytic work. One analytic team has good leadership and a product on the market that is doing well.

Cons

Analytic Consulting " Leadership" is dicey, without leadership skills or the understanding of data science. They don't listen or respect the highly qualified team assembled before they were hired. They tend to treat analysts as though they have interchangeable skillsets even though they come from vastly different specialties within the data science spectrum...actuarial, statstics, public health, business analytics, medicine, infrastructure, software design..as though projects are produced in some robotic widget factory. Leaders were consultants, not data scientists or analytic managers, so they don't understand statistics, analytic design, yet they tout the ability to produce predictive models, then timelines don't reflect what it takes to get a good one done. When questions arise, don't answer them using data science terminology.

Pros

BHI has some of the most talented and genuine employees I've ever work with. Your team becomes your family and make working here bearable amidst all the negativity on the leadership level. Benefits with the organization are some of the best I've seen, good PTO and great healthcare coverage. Work/Life balance is feasible at this organization as it's a very 9to5 type of environment.

Cons

Don't be fooled by the positive reviews on here, they are all coming from the Baltimore office at the request of the HR . There has been a shift in the priorities of the HR department and covering for a unqualified leadership team is priority #1. The leadership team at this company needs a complete overhaul. They are a bunch of children that would rather throw each other and their employees under the bus than take ownership of their own mistakes. BHI is a great example of promoting individuals who conned their way into a leadership position without having any leadership skills. One day you are a beloved employee and the next day you are on the chopping block. It's definitely mentally taxing to be apart of this company.

Pros

Staff are intelligent, cordial and committed.

Cons

Leadership is a disaster. They are arrogant and clueless. They don't even know how to conduct an interview except to sell you on how great BHI is. They simply don't care and worse don't understand the mess they created nor do they have any idea how to fix it. More silos than an Iowa farm (worst I've ever seen) and this won't change because of the shallow and callous culture. The BCBS organizations that make up their BOD won't even do business with them. That should tell you everything you need to know.
