Pros

- Lots of opportunities to grow because perpetually understaffed - CEO (c-suite) is cool but also very unprofessional, will reschedule your review dozens of times - Office is nice enough

Cons

- THEY TRACK YOUR ACTIVITY. every 10 mins they take a screenshot of your screen and give you an activity rating based on moving your mouse. as a member of management, I can vouch management is aware that employees hate this but simply don’t care. they also make you send a list of everything you did that day which creates intense pressure to be over productive. they do not trust their employees! - founder (c-suite) creates a toxic workplace culture. management has to shelter him from employees because he has screamed at staff. the Chief People Officer (c-suite) and CEO (c-suite) filter everything from him. just listen to the 3/24/2022 episode of his joke of a podcast “max growth live” minute 15:48 where he talks up publicly about wanting to fire a BSD employee and expresses “off with their head” and that he doesn’t want to give them 2-3 weeks notice. the founder (c-suite) promotes himself as an industry leader when in reality he simply uses the research and knowledge developed by his staff without ever providing them credit to boost his own reputation. -proper management simply doesn’t exist. as a member of management, i receive little to no support from the CEO (c-suite) and upper management in my role. they will simply let you fail. also they rescheduled my annual review over the course of 3 MONTHS because they simply don’t care about their employees. they consistently cancel my checkins and leave me stranded with major issues. -prepare to manage 100s of clients. the workload is INSANE. BSDs entire business model is about having 100s on 100s of tiny clients that pay a tiny tiny amount. however even tiny clients still require a lot of work, constant calls and complaints, and overall way to much for a single person to handle. team members consistently lie to clients or make things up during calls because there is simply too much to handle. as a business owner, i would strongly strongly stay away from BSD. - extremely low pay. even if you get promoted, your pay will barely go up (like less than 8k) and that’s only if you GET promoted. there is very very little opportunity for upward growth at BSD. my pay was consistently far far far below industry standards. when i asked about this, upper management simply didn’t care. so that’s why im going to leave for a job that actually pays me a fair wage - time off and sick days are COMBINED. so everyday you’re sick, you get less vacation time. they try to make this seem as if it’s in your benefit but trust me, it isn’t. - the clients are horrible and will yell at you. management does not help overall there are so many amazing career opportunities in marketing. do not waste your time at this horrible company!

Thank you for your feedback. We have eradicated worksnaps and do not use it for any full-time team members and have never intended it to be an invasion of privacy. Rather, we, unfortunately, had to keep it much longer than we had ever intended to use it due to the false accusations of former employees. We pride ourselves on creating a community in which for people to grow and develop professionally all the while having fun. We do not, as a company, randomly terminate employees. As the founder said in that episode, many times, we try to pivot the person who is not excelling in their current role to another role that will better leverage their skill set. For employees that are terminated due to performance issues, we follow strict performance improvement protocols in order to give the team member an opportunity to improve the areas of concern - we also try to help them if they are not excelling at our agency to succeed at other agencies that our founder is connected with that might have a position better suited for them. No one on our team manages hundreds of clients and we make each addition of a client to a team member's pack a conversation to understand bandwidth constraints being that we are a fast-growing company. When we have had to delay or reschedule reviews, we've proactively offered a compensation increase so that the team member is not penalized for the constraints of our leadership's schedules or have backdated the compensation increase and paid it out retroactively when needed. Upon review over the last two years, the average annual increase across the board for full-time team members has been upwards of 20% each year. PTO time is one pool to allow flexibility in how people would like to use their time, considering we are a hybrid workforce. We also offer additional PTO as needed and have fronted PTO time for all employees when they don't have enough and are ill or need time off.

Pros

- Great hands-on experience with SEO - I learned more about WordPress from this job than I ever had elsewhere - Manager in Web Development department is easily the best manager there - I walked away from this job with a lot of new skills that got me ahead quickly at other places

Cons

BluShark Digital is great for someone just out of college. In fact, they seem to prefer to hire fresh grads because they haven't learned their worth in the workplace. But if you've been working for any amount of time, you'll know that the way BluShark treats their employees isn't great. I was the only minority on my team and was making less than my white counterpart in the same position for the same length of time. While I was working at BluShark, there were 3 people in the Web Development department, and all of us were responsible for maintaining the upwards of 30 client websites. It was too much with too little support from upper management. BluShark also likes to boast about their culture and inclusivity, but there is only ONE minority in upper management.
