There's so many wrong things with this company that I don't even know where to begin.
- The atmosphere is toxic, period. Management at the higher level is a complete joke setting up unrealistic targets and expecting impossible results.
- Most teams are severely understaffed. People are leaving constantly and the amount of new hires is not sufficient to fill the gaps.
- Career outlook is not a thing in this company. Want to be promoted? Better befriend your superiors and hope they notice you. Competent people are worked to death while incompetent people get promoted for no reason most of the time.
- Salaries are a joke compared to other companies in the market. Expect to be paid half of what you would get in other places. Raises are non existent. You will never receive one if you don't specifically ask for it, or better said, beg for it. It will eventually come, but way later than promised. Here's a tip. Want to get a raise? Start looking for other jobs and let them know that you're leaving. Only then will they be bothered to give you a pathetic counter offer, at which point, just leave. This proves how much they value you.
- Most times it feels like nobody knows that they're doing. There are no concrete plans for the future. Changes and targets are implemented overnight even if they're not achievable. People are told to deal with it.
- The so called "benefits" are a joke. Even though the company saw record breaking increases in revenue during the pandemic and saved a lot of money by having us work from home, the employees received nothing to compensate our utilities. At the moment, there are 0 benefits besides the most basic health care package and a joke of a membership card (7 Card) which you actually have to pay for.
- There's no such thing as performance bonuses.
- Get used to team members that are toxic and slack off all the time. There's no repercussions for them even though management knows they're problematic. At most they'll get a slap on the wrist. Have fun working yourself to death while some of your colleagues do absolutely nothing all day.
- Do you like developing new skills at your new job? Are you excited to see how a security product works? Working at Bitdefender will surely open a lot of doors for you. Or so you would think. There's nothing to learn here. Everybody is working like a robot without understanding what they do and why they do it. Follow ancient procedures and don't question anything. Come up with a more efficient way to work? That's not in the procedure, we can't have that here. You'll be lucky if you receive any trainings while you're here and the ones that you get will be rushed, poorly structured and in some cases outdated. Some companies pay from their own pockets to have their employees certified. Not Bitdefender.
- Managers will actively try to sabotage you. If you want to transfer to a different team, you won't be allowed to because "there's not enough people to let you go". If you insist for months, they'll eventually run out of excuses so they'll give your possible future manager bad feedback about you to hopefully destroy that opportunity for you.
- I don't think screening interviews exist and if they do, I would think that the only qualification that you need to have is to be able to breath. I've had colleagues with 0 experience that were not qualified to work in this industry at all, however, they were hired because they didn't ask for a lot of money. Guess who will have to do their job? Quantity > quality is the motto here.
- Lately, Bitdefender is pushing for a PC environment which in itself is not a bad idea in the slightest, however, this has been done by censoring everybody with no warning beforehand. Be careful what you write on public channels, cause everything is considered offensive now, from Pepe the frog emotes to Cat emotes. I'm not even kidding. They've all been removed.
