43% positive business outlook
Pros
love the team culture and desire to win
Cons
none I could think of
Pros
- Company is based around a solid idea that isn’t being addressed anywhere else in the market (rewarding rent payments). - Really smart and driven people. - Solid comp and benefits.
Cons
- Leadership is scatterbrained and non-existent in some regards. Priorities are constantly shifting and that often isn’t discussed or communicated to key stakeholders until a decision has already been made by the executive team. - In office is essentially required 5 days/week. While this isn’t inherently a problem, a lack of dedicated work space, meeting rooms, and a cramped environment makes it difficult to focus and get work done. - Feedback loops don’t really exist unless you explicitly seek them out, making it difficult to know where your performance stands relative to expectations. - Much of the culture is driven by the whims of a CEO that can best be described as a megalomaniac and micromanager. - This is not a standard 9 to 5 gig and requires constant monitoring of slack and email during evenings and weekends to ensure you stay up to speed.
Pros
1) Company is doing great financially
Cons
1.) Team culture is toxic -Everyone needs to be in office 5x a week, but there are minimal meeting rooms. People take meetings on hallway floors, storage room, etc. -Managers very quick to layoff people -Manager did not know what they wanted when they hired, no proper onboarding plan, very possessive of workload and little guidance. No feedback ever. Would not include me in meetings so felt very lost from the beginning. -Very loud and hard to get work done in the office - Cliquey culture and difficult to make friends -Unorganized -Support people like Michael Rappaport, who are not good reps for the brand at all.
Pros
- Dynamic team - Good culture - Challenging projects - Everyone wants Bilt to win for our members so people work hard - Hands on CEO who works harder than all of us
Cons
- Need a larger office - So much to do, so little time
Pros
Friendly environment, great benefits package.
Cons
I was hired as a customer service representative with Bilt and was only employed for two weeks before I was fired due to the L&D individuals that led the training, lied and said that I was not engaged enough and felt to tell me and others that the practice test during training really does count towards whether or not they wanna keep you on the team. The training is all over the place, they expect you to know the entire product and under four weeks and bombard you with countless information. It was not a great experience. I would highly never recommend this company to anyone. The only good thing about this experience was going to New York City for training. Other than that I would not recommend this company to anyone that seeking employment.
Pros
- Company is riding the wave of a decent idea and is well funded - My direct team I really did enjoy. Great people who genuinely wanted to do a lot of good.
Cons
- Being mostly in-office, it is an incredibly disruptive environment. Sonos system always playing or someone talking to you despite having headphones on. Finding a quiet place to work means you'll need to work from home. - There's a very strong "bro" culture that revolves heavily around alcohol. If you are a POC, queer, or gender non-conforming person, I would steer clear. This will be a challenging environment for you. - Initiatives change fast and frequently with little regard to what's already in flight or what needs to be tended to. - From my perspective, there is a cult of personality surrounding CEO, Ankur Jain. Many people in the company are extremely deferential to him, leading to decisions being made on a whim or under the pretense of keeping him appeased. For example, he is constantly sending urgent change requests to teams which are immediately prioritized despite having significant consultation from those building the product who also have subject matter expertise. - Product direction is a moving target, influenced by the above point. Initiative organization and work tracking is hit or miss, leading to inaccurate timelines and a blurry scope of work. - Engineering standardization of quality is rough. Between services, versions and quality standards vary greatly, even within pods. There is unnecessary bloat and little thought put into future evolution. Much of the work planned is focused on what went wrong on the previous Rent Day.
Pros
- office is in a nice location
Cons
- theres always a fire to put out - work gets handed to you EOD on a Friday and expected to be complete by the following Monday, forcing you to work through the weekend (I can't stress how many times this happens) - if you're not in the office 5x a week you are looked down upon (even if everyones in office there isn't nearly enough room/seats for everyone) - if you're not working weekends to make absurd deadlines meet, you are looked down upon - lots of political bureaucracy and zero respect for work/life balance, leading to very quick burnouts which seem to never go away (due to having to overwork and work through weekends most of the time and non-realistic deadlines being set by leadership) - office is loud and makes working very difficult, especially if your work requires you to focus - leadership does not talk to teams about what they have planned to see if the deadlines for projects make sense, instead they set an absurd deadline that is set in stone (even after teams push back saying the deadline or features they want don't align with how long it takes to get it up and running, they refuse to change/update the deliverables to something that makes sense) - The CEO complains during team meetings when people worked from home when they are sick and even if they working from home due to COVID symptoms, making it extremely unsafe for everyone that didn't have the virus and was working from the office - company wide outings are just over-glorified frat parties with little to no food and tons of drinks (it doesn't make sense to attend these if you're not into that stuff)
Pros
Bilt Rewards is a challenging work environment that will promote your best work. You have the opportunity to have direct impact on business initiatives and strategies. It is a work hard environment that involves cross team collaboration and the ability to work fast and intentional. Great leadership and great plans for the future impact the company can have in the world. This place is really focused on building things that actually matter and can positively impact the masses.
Cons
Full time in office. Work life balance can be tricky
