Pros

Casual dress code, decent benefits package, subsidized lunches, monthly outings paid by the company, and occasionally have the chance to win free products through sales competitions.

Cons

I'm likely going to run out of characters before I get to fully explain how poor of a career choice this will be for most. Let's start at the top. I personally have witnessed the owner literally chew out and cuss at numerous employees. This is an HR nightmare dropping f-bombs, asking these people if they're dumb, all in front of other employees (it's an open office set-up). He only does this to the males in the office so females are safe. Everyone below the owner is a puppet that does exactly as he says. If you disagree with anything at all and express your opinion you're done, bye bye. Management is made up two types. The first is someone that has been so terrible at their sales role that they move them into a management position because it seems like the most logical thing to do. They have zero experience managing people. The second type is members of the "good ol boys club". Some were very strong in their sales role, none have management experience, all have brown noses and drink the same kool-aid. A third and very rare management type worth mentioning is the fresh out of college baby-faced kid that has little to no experience and been with the company for maybe a year and a half. Because of the inexperience there is absolutely no leadership (there's a huge difference in managing and leading) and full on 100% micro management. Want to know how many calls you've made? How many minutes you're on the phone? They will tell you- even post it on the big screens for everyone to see. These same inexperienced manager audit phone calls, notes, and tell those with experience how they should be doing it. Beyond that it's young, fresh out of college people that don't know any different because it's their first real job. If you're looking for a career with a defined path to growth, there isn't one. If you do end up with a "better position" there's little to no pay raises. Yearly raises are minimal at best (if you even get one) and commission structure changes as much as the weather- never for the better. Over the last year to two years it's actually gone down by half. Every year there are what appears to be random firings. No one really knows why because their is no communications about it. It's almost like they do it to scare the crap out of people. Finally, the products they sell are way over priced and the competition is beginning to catch on. More competition is coming about because other companies see that the market BAS holds can be infiltrated with similar products for less. The products are so over priced the employees can't afford to purchase them anymore. I say anymore because they raised the employee costs by a substantial amount on the products they could put in their own home such as the Haiku model fans. Shouldn't employees have these products in their possession so they can speak from experience when trying to sell? BAS even has to make a profit from the employees, it's sad. I'm sure I could go on about other things like moving desks every couple of months, snow days policy, leaving at 5:00 when your shift is over (this is frowned upon because they want you to stay late so they can squeeze every ounce of work out of you. This is daily and not just when it's busy) and much more but I won't, my hands are tired of typing.

It's full of lies.

Pros

Negligible. Pay is good...until you get laid off, I suppose.

Cons

Likes to pretend to be important, relevant and a major market player. In reality has no long-term plan. "Industry publications" about owner and company are reportedly all written in-house as propaganda pieces; believable. Hanging on to culture created by talented individuals long gone. Pretends to care about employees. Cantina claims to pay for half of lunch as "subsidized." Sorry, but $10 for cold sandwich and chips when I could get better for less at Jimmie Johns is taking advantage of employees. Over-hired and then fired a lot of talented individuals. Two rounds of lay-offs in four months. Hired John Bonstock <sp?> whose (literally) only self-identified ability is to fail at everything he does. According to him every business he touches goes under shortly afterwards. Owner too stupid to recognize this. Worthless middle and upper management with no clue how to turn out a quality product. Owner considers himself an "entrepreneur" but really only bought the original product line and cleverly marketed it. Claims to be made in USA but all residential items come from overseas. Overseas engineers barely understand what they're doing. Literally, LITERALLY just laid off the entire test group. Does that make you confident in the product line? Company expects the best from you. You shall not expect the same in return.

Pros

They hire fun, young individuals who all lead similar lifestyles. That's the hook and why most people stay. Your co-workers and the perks (beer, parties, ice cream) will be amazing, it's the management and the lack of leadership/ organizational structure that ruins this company.

Cons

Remember that this company is really good at marketing when you read all the articles stating that this is a "top company" and pays "well". This company does not live up to it's reputation once you get on the inside. The CEO is a loose canon. It appears that he bases decisions off of emotions and illogical thought. Nobody has a secure position in this company as he will immediately fire anybody without any reason or warning. Very few women are promoted in this company, there is a very strong boys club. Women are respected but it does not appear that their opinions are highly sought after or taken seriously when provided. New, naive employees will be promised career opportunities and raises with "hard work and creativity" but promotions are usually given based upon who the CEO chooses as the flavor of the week.
