Toxic environment with poor leadership and bullying

Pros

Was a great company until about one year ago, where it took a big nose dive. The leadership team pivoted yet again about direction, and then blamed all the staff who were doing what they were told in the previous pivot for being where they were.

Cons

Well, team spirit is non- existent. The workforce is full of bullies at a senior level. Sometimes nice to your face but then you hear what they are saying. Senior leadership people smirking in video conferences, belittling people. Horrible, horrible place. This is why I will not identify myself.

Pros

Remote Flexibility: Enjoy flexible remote work options for a better work-life balance. Meaningful Impact: Build software that directly improves patient care and saves lives. Competitive Pay: Receive attractive salaries and comprehensive health benefits. Continuous Innovation: Work at the cutting edge of tech and healthcare. Strong Job Security: Join a stable, recession-resistant, and growing industry.

Cons

Strict Regulations: Navigating complex compliance standards like HIPAA can be highly stressful and slow down development. High-Stakes Pressure: Software bugs can directly impact patient safety, creating a high-pressure work environment. Slow Development Cycles: Extensive testing and regulatory approvals often lead to longer release cycles and less agile workflows. Complex Domain Knowledge: Engineers must constantly learn difficult medical terminology and intricate clinical workflows. Legacy Tech Stacks: Many healthcare systems rely on outdated technology, which can be frustrating for developers wanting to use modern tools.

Pros

Great work environment, great people, and the remuneration is not bad, Very flexible when it comes to employees with young families or other personal requirements. For the most part, allows for hybrid and/or remote work depending on the role. The current CEO, Craig Hodges, is the most personable and caring executive leader I have ever worked for, It doesn't matter if you are in an entry level position or senior management, he will make the time for you should you need him.

Cons

Generally required to operate within Queensland timezone (within reason) so expect a lot of mid-day to afternoon meetings given QLD being 2-3 hours behind NZ depending on DST. Either take lunch at 11am or have it on the way home. Can seem slow at times as decisions generally have to make their way right up the chain of command before being authorised. Limited career advancement opportunities in the NZ side, often plenty in AU.
