Pros

Outstanding laboratory capabilities & brilliant scientists - Baylor Genetics has the infrastructure and scientific legacy needed to standout in today’s over saturated genetic testing market.

Cons

Interested in Medieval class systems? Do you enjoy being belittled and bullied? If you’re the kind of person who loves disappointing clients and appreciates micromanagement, come join the fun at Baylor!! From onboarding to test ordering, PTO to a non existent commission structure, Baylor does an excellent job setting their employees up for failure. Have a question about your new role? Need answers for clients? Don’t know who you can or cannot contact? No worries - it’s not written down anywhere so do your best to guess. And remember- never speak to anyone above you in the hierarchy. Direct communication is forbidden- you must channel all questions through your manager, who will then be routinely ignored by leadership. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that BG’s presence in America means the company operates with American values such as freedom and democracy. Or that it takes into consideration that its end users are sick kids. .

Pros

We have great genetics products, we also have a great brand, our holding company is very generous , the PTO grows per employee experience, the office is in the medical center which keeps us close to other medical markets. 3 year 401k vest. ZERO training for how to work with the company or understand their programs/processes.

Cons

Sales team and Genetic Counseling team has dwindled down to threads. Everyone who works here has either been here less than a year or 3+ years due to the 401k vest. Most people leave within a year or stay only for the 3 year vest then leave. Most people just don't show up on fridays, so nothing really gets done those days. Most say they are working remotely but are hard to reach . Attrition is very high in all depts, including execs. Worst part of the job is creating POWERPOINTS for every single little thing such as the need for a work laptop! Very simple requests to more in depth requests are all strictly subject to powerpoints along with very strict criteria. Another huge CON is that the CEO wants his hands in every little movement that the company has and micromanages every decision in the dept and demands a signoff for even smaller decisions. Parking in the parking garage is $130 a month and isn't paid for by the company.

Pros

Technical reputation of lab is deserved. Health insurance is decent.

Cons

Micromanagement and admin work drains the life from the culture. You're there to sit in your place and do what you're told. So proceed with caution.
