Pros

- Clear career path, if you kick start as ODP Graduates or Pro Hire. Will it be achievable? yep, later on, when you grow old enough and has licked every *** on the planet. It will come, for sure. - Chance to growth your leadership skill with some "challenge" given to you. - Chance to receive one of the best Master's scholarship benefits in Indonesia, it comes with great cost tho. 2n + 1years of serving time to Bank Mandiri after graduates, with not so significant increment employee benefits increment when you come back to Indonesia. - Great friends, yep, because you go through so much blood and tears while working there, you might find yourself some lifetime friends. - Annual bonus performance, based on subjective achievement. Oops, sorry, objectively i mean. Although, this bonus, as big as it comes, even with your "Superior" performance level, your annual total compensation (included annual bonus, leave bonus, THR, etc) still under the market. Not talking comparing the benefits with Tech Companies, even with the competitor, it's still under. Especially ODP IT. But you got the bonus, so be grateful for it, right? - What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, after all that you've been through here, wherever you work would feels like walking in the park - Great brand exposure, for career jump. - This is honest, wide knowledge that would makes you understand multiple industry business flow. Very expensive knowledge.

Cons

> Subjective performance measurement is real. No licking means you dig your own grave. > Yes Sir attitude is killing it, better wear your best armor and helmet when you present your work with "No" or "Unable" conclusions, you might get machine gunned. > Gas lighting at it's finest, whatever you tell to your line manager, the answers will be the same, either it's the employee that not strong enough to endure this workplace, or the best one is "what do you think regarding this". > Taichi's Master everywhere, everyone basically want higher salary with as minimum work as possible, it's everyone dream yet anyone but their self that has to suffer. > Your lifetime experiences and devotion will mean nothing (if and only if you come from ODP), because the annual increment is soooo great, so great that fried chicken store near my home has a better price increment than my salary increment. It got better with so many pro hires coming in, with much lower capabilities than current employee, but they got more than 50% benefits than the current employee who has better capabilities and same years of experience. If the current employees want to get the same amount as the pro hires, they have to spend 8 more years of annual salary increment while that pro hires got no increment at all. > Work Life Balance, sure thing. You know the triangle of life (time, money, energy) right? the problem is, we get 0 of that. We got no time, no money, no energy, thanks to unlimited request coming in with so tight deadline and no overtime fee. Well, there are overtime fees, 25k IDR per day. Yep, you read it right. per Day, even for the weekend. Oh, do i mention working on the weekend?yep, still, 25k. While overtime will cost you more than that for snacking and stress eating and doing some regretful things to make you feels alive. > Like i said before, everyone will becomes leaders, eventually. Doesn't matter if they are competent enough, or not. Duh > Everyone has their own agenda and politics, typical old money companies. no surprise there > Toxic culture, not at all groups tho, but still.

Pros

- Chance to grow your leadership (if you are from ODP) - Internal scholarship for master degree from top 15 university in the world - Fun coworkers (because there are many young millennials in my unit that are in the same age), so we can have fun whether in the office or outside working hour - Bonus with multipliers depends on your work performance

Cons

These are honest views and what me and my friend fellow officers felt. Several cons of the work life & culture in Bank mandiri are : - "Yes sir" attitude Most of the employees here have this kind of attitude, and seems like its really negative thing to say "NO" to your boss. The bosses are also have this attitude towards the upper management and directors and have no consideration regarding to the impact of their attitude (more heavy workload because bosses accept all request coming from directors and other unit in order to keep their name clean and positive). - Work Life Balance is a myth. Glorifies overtime to meet irrational target. Most of the time, You will work overtime and all management here sees this as culture. After COVID, I had numbers of meetings during weekend (day and night), and plenty of time, meetings can take up your night time (over 9 PM), meanwhile we were not paid enough for overtime (only 25k per day for overtime). This happens even when we have meetings with our direct managers/verticals. - Toxic Culture Management often use positive toxicity to answer all of our opinions, rants, and suggestions. Blaming culture is everywhere. - Sometimes leaders here are incompetent (only for some unit) Leaders here only know the surface of the issue, and hardly try to understand the issues down to technical level. Most of the time, they just want all issues done without knowing how hard their team try to solve it. - Silos, politics and bureaucracy Cant be the bank's fault because bank is highly regulated unit so all activities needs to be documented and well organized. However, it's hard to collaborate with other units since each of the working units here have each of their targets, agendas, and try hard to win their director's heart so they have better appraisal than any other working unit in the same directorate (silos). - Too old to understand concept amongst managements It's hard to elaborate a technical/statistical concepts to management since they hardly try to understand it because they say they are old and could not catch up to understand the terms/concepts. - Underpaid If you onboard as ODP graduates, expect to get underpaid after 2-3 years of working since the salary incremental here is pretty low (up to 10% if your performance is superior), far lower than much industry even other bank. Your salary can be extremely lower than pro-hires that just joined to your working units that has the same years of experience and grade-status like you.
