No longer a Design Company

Pros

There are a handful of very strong artists. Learning from them and watching them work their magic is a perk of the job for sure. Compensation is competitive. Relaxed time off policy.

Cons

I've worked here for over two years, and I can assure you this is no longer a Design and Animation company, it's an activism company. It's gone from having a relaxed, creative culture, to being a full-on performative woke racist company within the past year. I've never seen a company's culture degrade as quickly as this one. They even brought a well-known racist speaker as a guest recently and spammed people on every single Slack channel throughout the entire day to join the hateful presentation. "Bring all your loudest politics to every single meeting" is the new motto, this company has one of the most undisciplined Slacks I've ever seen, so forget about focusing on your work, it's activism 24/7. Also, If you are a man or look white (even if you are middle eastern, jewish, or whatever) get ready to be thrown under the bus at every opportunity so that the spineless, self-serving bunch at the C-Suite and top-ranking creatives can score some woke points to protect themselves or advance their own careers.

Pros

The majority of your peers are super talented and helpful.

Cons

White boys club! The upper management has been there forever and there is a lot of unspoken rules and keeping each others backs.

Pros

Working alongside amazing talent from across the world. Free healthy lunch and snacks. Very cool building. Some of the best (line and exec) producers I've ever met.

Cons

Severe lack of diversity all across the board. Lunch is served in order of "importance", Execs first. Maintenance staff eats separately. Little to no growth opportunities. Pet friendly - so long as the pet doesn't make sounds, which is asking the impossible. It causes tension between pets, owners, and colleagues. Constant threats to ban pets from campus aren't helpful. Gender wage gaps and/or wages disproportionate to market value. Lacking communication from the top down, resulting in incredibly slow progress when changes need to be made. Some artists go months without a job with no explanation, while others are constantly swamped and work extensive OT to meet their deadlines. Inconsistent performance reviews, some go over a year without one. No room to offer feedback on any of these concerns - when attempted, it is met with dismissal or a defensive attitude and the conversation gets shut down. Tense atmosphere. Company only covers half the cost of the insurance package. Once I overheard an Exec say "People should be thankful to be here, they need us more than we need them." and that's the company culture in a nutshell.
