Pros

They have structure to most of their processes and functioning systems which is nice.

Cons

The leadership is very immature and the atmosphere is similar to high school. If you are in the "in-crowd" and brown-nose your way to the top (despite having any real skills) you will be promoted in your career with BG Group. If you over achieve in your role but do not play the political game, you will never go anywhere! Also, the skill-lacking, golden children who are promoted, are given manager positions with employees reporting to them and have no idea how to manage. SCARY! In addition, I witnessed first hand how salary increases are based on how much the snobby compensation team likes you. They are not based on merit or accomplishments.

Pros

Lots of fast paced exciting work. New technology and business keeps the technical and business side busy. The commercial work done is the best in the industry.

Cons

Career "kingdom builders" actively work to thwart advancement or recognition of quality people. To advance in BG you must know someone higher, swear loyalty to that person and their ideas, and fight those outside your "kingdom". Tremendous amount of energy wasted with internal politics. Pros

Lots of good people work for BG. If you have managers with integrity, there are opportunities for committed employees to enjoy career progression. There will be more opportunities when BG realises it has outgrown the ability of some of its managers to handle the job.

Cons

Managers who lack integrity, mainly those who have advanced by default or by other devious means. Openly challenging this type of individual can halt career progression, in some cases end it. An unacceptable safety record and a suppression of facts contribute to the fallacious environment with a high attrition rate amongst employees.
