Pros

High end productions. Big campaigns. They do promote from within.

Cons

Excessive red tape around every process. Terrible culture of who you know rather than what you know. A lot of inexperienced or incompetent people excel here. An extremely large workforce but filled with a lot of inefficient people and processes - unnecessary wasting the licence fee payer's money. On the same subject, extraordinary amounts of money of licence fee payer's money allocated to budgets that aren't justified for anything other than promoting the BBC or trying to win awards for ads. Progression only happens as a result of people leaving - so the most senior positions are filled with people sitting comfortably waiting for retirement. It is common knowledge throughout the company that the best way to progress in your career is to go elsewhere then come back for an easy life before retirement - this culture is never challenged and therefore encouraged.

Being part of a team, learning about the world and helping share that with people nationally and globally, opportunities to train. Great support when needed time to be with terminally ill friend.

Cons

Low pay compared to other production companies, long hours (no overtime payment), high work volume & stress
