Pros

Some of the nicest people. Great PTO.

Cons

Culture is being destroyed by a select few people in the C-suite who are toxic and treat the place like their personal sandbox. Seriously, one has a "list" of people who made them mad, and usually these people end up gone within 6 months. Turnover is constant at that level as they can't get along. Favoritism - The same people get promoted over and over and over again. Lack of ownership - everyone tries to pass off their work to someone else.

Thank you for taking the time to provide a review. There's a lot to unpack here! We agree that Availity has some of the most wonderful, talented, and creative people at all levels of the organization. These same people shape the diverse, winning culture that consistently lands Availity on several Best Places to Work™ lists year after year. Our culture continues to attract top talent, win new business, fuel the development of new and innovative products, and drive value back to our customers daily. We don't have just one strong personality in the C-suite; we have several strong leaders—all aligned around Availity’s mission to improve the healthcare experience in the United States. Availity is not the same company we were six years ago, and that's a good thing! To grow and remain competitive, Availity must evolve. Is change easy? No. Change is hard as associates become more empowered in their areas and more accountable in their roles. These changes are not made in a vacuum, as we provide associates with the resources and tools they need to succeed. Leaders at Availity are not only approachable, but they are unusually accessible, transparent, and intimately involved in the day-to-day workings of their teams. We invest in our associates; they are what make Availity great. We are grateful to each associate, past and present, for their contributions to our culture and success. One of our core values is open and inclusive dialog. We know that we are better when we can have honest conversations about how we feel and how we can improve, even challenging discussions. We wish you had shared your feelings and concerns while here. Every associate has an opportunity for success at Availity. We reward great work, and if we repeatedly promote associates, it's because they thrive in their roles at Availity. Again, we thank you for your review and feedback and will share your thoughts directly with our leadership team. We wish you much success in the future.

CEO protects senior leaders at all costs

Pros

A decent pay structure but regardless of how you perform, you are disposable at any turn (if you don't report directly to CEO). If you are ok with being payed a decent salary but working long hours and treated horribly. This is an option for you.

Cons

The CEO, Russ Thomas, is a short timer. He wants to avoid turnover within his direct reports AT ALL COSTS. This means accountability always rolls downhill. If you are a direct report of SLT (senior leadership team) or a manager who reports at next level down then you know that you are facing the gauntlet every day because he will always look for the lower man on the totem pole to blame as not to have to take any actions himself with SLT. And the senior leaders know this so their behavior just gets worse every year. It only further perpetuates the negative atmosphere that the senior leaders are all backstabbing each other as well as their teams while the CEO sits back and watches with a big smile. This Donald Trump leadership style does not bring out the best in people, surprisingly (insert sarcasm), nor does it lend to the most conducive environments for production. When you spend more time in "cya" mode or trying to rationalize concepts with your irrational leaders who are doing their best to discredit you, it's not a recipe for success.

Not all that shines is gold

Pros

Full remote and decent benefits

Cons

Work life balance is non-existent (even though the company claims work life balance is big to them). Upper management is detached from the ground level or just don’t seem to care, because there are people in senior management, that have seats at table due to friendships rather than contributions. In availity there is the concept of product owners and product line managers. Some product line managers and owners “chef kiss”, others make me wonder how the heck do they even stay in business. God forbid someone asks for requirements or priorities from the poorly higher product people. Most of the time you will be met with blanket stares, or engineering is asked for priorities, because the ones doing the work knows the priority.

We greatly value your feedback and appreciate the time you've taken to share your thoughts. Your insights are invaluable to us as we strive for continuous improvement. We are genuinely sorry to hear about your experience, as it does not align with the typical feedback we receive. At Availity, we place a high priority on maintaining a healthy work-life balance for our associates. We understand that this balance can sometimes be challenging to achieve. That's why we actively encourage any associate who feels overwhelmed to reach out to their manager or HR business partner. Together, they can develop action steps to help find that crucial balance. Availity's leadership team is deeply committed to our culture and our associates. They bring a wealth of experience, knowledge, and expertise to their roles. While their approaches may vary, they all aim to foster a culture of learning, innovation, respect, and accountability. They make tough business decisions daily, some of which may not always be popular. However, they also prioritize activities that foster transparency and engagement, such as hosting executive chats, mentoring junior associates, leading discussions on leadership and motivational books, and providing regular updates during our quarterly All Associate Meetings, where they welcome live Q&A from the entire company. This level of leadership transparency is a cornerstone of Availity's culture. We appreciate your comments and wish you much success in the future.
