Pros

I worked at Autosoft for almost 3 years. A lot of really good people across all departments are employed there. Overall, there are a bunch of really friendly and smart people at Autosoft.

Cons

Well, the company is being run into the ground by the owner. The current owner/president inherited the company from his father, who had put in all the hard work creating the products and establishing a business model that was good for customers, employees, and partners. The current owner, though, has no experience running a software company, no experience managing people, and no experience in the industry. This has led to many unfortunate and disastrous decisions. You will be heavily monitored if you join the company, Monitoring includes video cameras in all the work areas, phone calls being recorded and listened to, emails being examined, and your daily web traffic analyzed. All of this monitoring is actually done by the owner of the company and has produced a very strange and uncomfortable work environment and overall culture.

Don't get comfortable. Job not a career

Pros

Coworkers. in-house perks. Remote opportunities.

Cons

The ever-changing revolving door of employees. The company dubs as a trojan horse. Things seem fantastic at the beginning (culture/direction/etc) but after awhile you'll realize there is no direction and the employee shelf life is absurd. There are more people hired and fired here than any place I've ever worked. There's a running joke that the CEO is actually the Queen of Hearts (off with their head!)...the man likes to get rid of people and loves watching heads roll. Because he is uneducated, he relies on his "favorites" to lead the way. Well, those favorites don't last long either. Please go to the website and watch the career videos - there is not a single employee in those videos that are still with the company today, Ultimately, don't get comfortable at this place. Its a job, not a career. Use it as a resume boost but don't plan on being here long.

Go Work for a Real Software Company

Pros

This company really WANTS to be a good company. But the splashy look and "upbeat" company culture vibe they're trying to push is rotten; even many of the benefits they tout, like flexible work schedules, aren't so flexible once the CEO gets wind of them. Unfortunately, it takes six to 12 months to figure that out when you're inside, depending on how much facetime you get with CEO.

Cons

The CEO has some great ideas and a vision - but no idea how to get there, and he doesn't understand how to empower his teams to be successful. You will alternately be told to "do what you think is best" and then given blow by blow instructions on how to do your job correctly (from someone who has no idea what you actually do or why it's even important, only that he once read in an article somewhere that he should hire someone like you). When you fail, even doing what you were told to do, after telling the CEO it would fail, you will be held accountable for the failure; the CEO will never, ever have your back. The CEO has no faith in or respect for his employees, and constantly talks about other teams behind their backs. You are constantly monitored from "security" cameras by the CEO himself. which is funny because when you're in face to face meetings with him he will spend more time looking at his phone than at you. Your calls and email are all actively monitored, so people start to get weird about what they will and won't say over the phone. It's like living in lockdown. There is a deep feeling of distrust and disrespect from the CEO that trickles down into every team. You'll constantly walk around on pins and needles. It's a deeply stressful way to work once you figure out what's going on. I'm just sorry it took so long and I wasted so much time there.
