Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookApproves of CEOI worked at Auckland Council full-time for more than a year
Pros
When it comes to the hard yards, teamwork has never been this easy. Good team camaraderie. Good place to upskill and learn more on the job. Manager is generally approachable on most things.
Cons
In my department, there is a culture of snitching and backstabbing. Micromanaging is prevalent; autonomy is discouraged. It seems as if a certain demographic gets promoted here; a sycophantic "yes guy." There is no area in this company where you can air out your grievances without being reprimanded.

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI worked at Auckland Council full-time for more than 8 years
Pros
There are people throughout the organization that make this place worth the time. Dedicate to the vision of the organization and genuinely working to make Auckland great. There are ample opportunities within the organization to branch out and learn new skills. There are a lot of opportunities for learning and development.
Cons
There is an unhealthy focus on Employee Engagement to the point that it is being used by leaders as a people management tool. There is an inequity in Reward and Recognition, often individuals are singled out and rewarded for an entire teams work. There is a new wave of leadership emerging within the organization who do not promote a healthy work environment and do not promote the organizations values for example maintaining a healthy work life balance. The quality of communication from a leadership level has fallen dramatically over the past few years.

Doesn't RecommendNeutral OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI worked at Auckland Council full-time for more than 5 years
Pros
Lots of great challenges for experienced people, lots of very clever people working there. Good intent and willingness to envisage, support and drive change among these people, but complexity limits success with implementing change properly.
Cons
Not strong on customer centricity, customer experience, customer insights or service design. This limits service development as a core part of strategy and operations. Limited drivers and limited desire for change itself - maybe covid 19 will drive this now,
