Pros

-Free trips to Portland - Discount on adidas product - Salary Positon

Cons

You’ll need to learn the lingo quickly, and keep that overly positive, unrealistic attitude up at all times, or you’ll never have a chance to advance. Sometimes I feel like I’m the only sane party when interacting with Archrival HQ. NEPOTISM is a huge issue within the company. Unless you make the program director your best friend, you simply will not be promoted. They’re willing to move their favorites across the country to fill roles even if there are overly qualified candidates locally. They’ll create new positions for those favorites in order to give them raises and more opportunities. No one at Archrival is interested in your career advancement. This is a dead end job, and they're just looking for bodies to fill positions. They want to keep you in the same entry-level position until they can fire you, or you decide to quit. Of the hundreds of people who’ve had this role, less than five have actually made it to adidas HQ. If you think this position will get you to adidas, think again, Archrival does not want you there. And just know that the positive reviews are being written by members of Archrival HQ. Count the number of times “awesome” is used both in those reviews, and on the company website. It’s their favorite word, and they love telling us agents how “awesome” we are, all the while keeping us in our same low-level position. This job isn’t going to teach you any valuable skills that will help you transition into your next career. You can jazz it up on your resume, but in reality, you work at Dick’s Sporting Goods. You’ll be overworked, and underappreciated, all the while being babysat by your Regional Manager. They get to work a typical Monday-Friday schedule, while you your working hard Wednesday-Sunday. Don’t expect any e-mails or phone calls to be answered while you’re working hard on the weekend, your managers are unavailable, so figure it out. You’ll also get to watch your superiors living it up at the corporate office, enjoying brunch and happy hour, while your stuck folding t-shirts in your stores. They’ll keep adding more responsibilities to your plate, while they enjoy the benefits of your hard work. Now I have our annual training camp to look forward to. A weeklong event, where they try to appease us by buying us alcohol and telling us again how “awesome” we are. The event is only fun for members of Archrival HQ, who pose for adidas as if they know what’s going on. If adidas is wise, they’ll ask for the feedback of us Field Agents directly, rather than going through Archrival. I’m sure that adidas will catch on soon, but hopefully I’ll have found a new position, far, far away from Archrival.

We appreciate the feedback. Thanks for your employment over the past 3+ years. However, we are deeply saddened to hear that your overall experience has not been awesome. While we realize that the agent role is not for everyone, we do hope those that are in it are satisfied. We provide competitive benefits and flexible schedules to those who are passionate about sports & retail. And if that is not the case, we absolutely support people wanting to find a new gig. Above all, we just want you to be happy! In regard to Career Advancement, we continue to strengthen our Employee Experience and learning & development opportunities. In the last 18 months, 40 Archrival Agents have received field promotions or moved into roles within Archrival or brand HQ. We feel that's a strong portion of upward movement for a company of our size and meets our desire to provide growth opportunities across the team. That said, we will always strive to ensure employees are empowered to grow within their current role as well, which is why we employ such a robust Management task force. Also, so sorry to hear that you are not looking forward to your yearly trip to Portland next week. We see this as a perk of being an agent, getting a week-long paid trip to Portland with adidas insights and gear, dynamic training exercises meant to help you sharpen your craft, team comradery, vision sharing, and so much more. Apparently not everyone is motivated by this unique experience, however, we hope that you will come to Training Camp with an open mind. Feel free to find HR while you're in town, it's important we hear more about your experiences and we are always open to suggestions. And keep in mind you can always reach us at fieldagent.hr@archrival.com.

Pros

adidas discount, Portland trip to North American HQ of adidas, (once or twice a year, depending on budget), great agents in the field, great pay for a first job out of college, and working with the most creative brand in the world adidas (not archrival)

Cons

No room for advancement, lies from archrival that you can make it to adidas HQ (maybe 2 agents in history did so, 1% success rate ), massive layoffs (with no warning), no 401k or retirement opinions, leader ship with down the drain when Sara Hills left, over worked, must work seven days straight when you have your one weekend off for the month, must front all your gas for your weekly visits, no money for repairs on your car, mileage $ comes back at the end of the month (but it’s enough to cover everything with travel) and no true connection with adidas in the way of advancement (your just a jump off, not adidas #1). Adidas is a great brand, but archrival is a joke. I am thankful for my time there, but glad I am out. I had a successful career there, won multiple awards, changed the game forever, left a mark that has never been matched, and yet a has been when your gone. Keep your day job and try to work directly with adidas NOT Archrival. Many blessings

Pros

You were able to make your own schedule, and work independently with out being micromanaged. Or so it was in the past. This program started as something very purposeful, and rewarding, but sadly turned into something with little to no impact for their client (adidas).

Cons

However, once the value from what the program was doing originally no longer held its value to adidas, they panicked and COMPLETELY changed everything that they do. Went from a relationship building, advocate focus, to “visual merchandising” , or folding stacks of tee shirts and hanging clothes. They do a great job of talking a big game, and a great job of giving corporate answers. If you decide to work for this company, please never expect to receive any truthful, or helpful answers from anyone. They are quick to pick favorites as well. If you look at the Management teams, and those who are at HQ, it’s all the personal favorites of the company, and they aren’t favorites due to work ethic or results. This company does not care about its employees. they did go through the first round of lay offs recently, and want to make it seem like it was just business decision, however the reason for layoffs was due to the fact that Archrival had one individual do a rapid mass hiring of roughly 80-100 people and grew far too fast for no real reason. They reason they went through lay offs was simply because they run their business terribly, however they would never be able to come close to admitting that (insert corporate run around answer here).
