Avoid if possible worst company I have worked for in my short career.
Pros
Fast progression for hard working people good for getting that experience on the CV. A lot of responsibility which is good experience for new managers.
Cons
Low salary. Very very high staff turnover speaks for itself. Not enough budget to have staff on the floor, managers do all the cleaning, unpacking etc. Most of the staff are here temporary until they get a better job, so a lot of sick calls in or no shows ups as they don't care about a minimum paid job. A lot of work and responsibility for very low wage. Company brakes the law in many areas for example: Only 30 min brake in 8h shift, wrong holiday pays or not paying them correctly at all or standing at the till for 6 hours or more. If offered higher position and accepted, they will try to avoid increase you salary for as long as possible. I have experienced this my self and I know about at least other 5 managers that have been offered to become managers and they had to wait for months to get an increase. Area managers would ignore your requests or keep saying next week for months. Some sites don't even give free coffee for staff. Forget about the food or any other discounts. Some sites make staff to cover drive offs and till shortages. Most of the sites are 24/7 so you get calls all night long as there system tends to crash very often. Working on Xmas day, sites are open 365 days a year. Very poor back office compared to the other companies. Basically they don't care about staff, area managers don't even say hello to cashiers. Many more bad points,I just hope they will improve in the near future.
