Pros

Plenty of work and understanding about scheduling appointments

Cons

Lack of trust, obvious degree of micromanagement, lack of appropriateness from CEO, insertion of non upper-management personnel into upper-management situations, blatant disregard of medical conditions and inappropriate borderline illegal request of medical documentation, advantage taken of employees' lack of knowledge of system or of situation to gain control, manipulation and gaslighting.

Thank you for sharing your review, and I appreciate your approach of seeking understanding. To anyone reading this feedback, I encourage you to engage in open conversations with us to better comprehend your concerns, as we are committed to addressing them. It's important to clarify that while we do require medical documentation in specific circumstances, this is not the default approach. This practice aims to ensure that employees' medical requirements are respected and appropriately accommodated. Your advice regarding learning from past experiences is valuable. Since your tenure with us beginning in September 2020, we underwent a significant transition towards remote work. This shift posed challenges for us, as it did for many companies new to remote work dynamics. We acknowledge that some initial solutions might have leaned toward micromanagement, but we genuinely listened to our employees' needs and adapted accordingly. Over the years, we've gained insights into accommodating diverse work modes. We recognize that individuals vary in their preferences for management levels, and we strive to strike a harmonious balance. Our ongoing efforts focus on refining this balance and continually improving in this aspect.

I would rather be homeless than work for this company

Pros

There's a Jimmy Johns on the first floor of the building that makes the hallways smell like their amazing bread, yum! Oh... you meant about the company? Sorry, can't think of any.

Cons

I could write a novel on this terrible company. The pay is laughably low, no job security, backstabbing from your fellow employees, security cameras watching your every move, scrutinized time cards, no vacation, vindictive ceo, micromanagement team who will watch their own behind at all times, unfriendly coworkers, menial work. I have absolutely no idea how this company has managed to stay in business for as long as it has, but I know the clients are unhappy or have been lied to in some capacity. There is no honesty from the top down management. Management will try to intimidate you hourly and hold any personal information you've shared with them against you until you submit to their 'power'. Really, this is an overall terrible place to work. If your Temp Agency tries to send you here, don't even accept an interview. Employees are disposable, which is why they use temps. One single employee has been hired on without an agency.

This review dates back six years, and while certain aspects may no longer be applicable, I will clarify some factual inaccuracies while steering clear of more subjective matters. Please note that I can't verify the accuracy of these points from six years ago; my comments are based solely on the current state of affairs as of August 2023. Compensation varies notably across departments and has undergone substantial changes since the time of the review. For individuals considering employment, I recommend directly inquiring about the pay range associated with the specific position they are interested in.

Pros

Some good employees. A lot of nice people. Company trips.

Cons

The environment is very manipulate. Careful on sharing personal information, management will hold that information over your head and use it against you. They will also share your personal information with others without your permission. Even if its medical. How have they not had a lawsuit!?! Maybe its because they have no HR department and the CEO can be intimidating, gaslighting, and manipulative. He purposefully puts employees against one another. Favorites are constantly played. If you become a favorite you will get promoted. But be careful, you fall just as quickly. Black sheep employees are shuffled around until they quit or get fired. Micromanagement is a big problem. Every action you make is micro-managed. Its all about power. Office politics drips from everything. You can watch management in this tug of war that is created by the CEO. Certain people have power, while others don't. Regardless of what position you hold. And just because you have power one week, doesn't mean you will the next. Creating a hostile, backstabbing environment of people trying to climb one over the other to get to the top. The CEO gets his hands into everything and every decision goes through him. Which sounds okay at first. He's very involved. Until you realize he makes rash decisions on partial information that affects a great deal without even understanding the repercussions. He'll ask the least knowledgeable and least qualified employees about something they know little to nothing about and then make a decision on their response. Leaving everyone confused and trying to clean up the mess. He is frugal in the worst way. He will spend thousands without blinking, but wont replace a broken mouse or give all of his employees mouse pads. If you are not in management you are completely in the dark about everything. And treated like "just another body." Before I was a supervisor, I would watch all of the supervisors go around. Whispering to one another. Then when I became a supervisor, I realized it was all office politics. They'd bad-mouth their team, management, and one-another. Very toxic. Before I was in management, I could tell if an employee was on their bad list because they would ignore and avoid that employee. Then, as a supervisor, I felt pressure to fall in suit. The pay is lousy for the amount of work you are expected to do. Mistakes are scrutinized and guilt-tripped. You get paid only once a month. The gender pay gap is real in this company (even though I am on the better side of that equation, I know other good employees aren't). The office is in the middle of downtown, which means you have to pay for parking or public transit. There are no company programs to help with this. The company claims to provide 401k but setting it up is nearly impossible. Promotions don't mean increase in pay, but most definitely mean an increase in work load and responsibility. If you are in management and this company is not your life. You will fail.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed review. We appreciate your willingness to engage in a constructive conversation about your experience. If you would like to discuss any specific aspects of your time with us, we encourage you to reach out to our office. We would be more than happy to arrange a meeting where we can listen to your insights and gain a deeper understanding of your perspective. In addressing your points, we respectfully acknowledge that there are both disagreements and areas where your assessment aligns with our internal evaluations. It's important to us that we maintain an environment where open dialogues can foster understanding and improvement. Regarding concerns about pitting employees against each other, we want to assure you that it has never been our intention to create such an atmosphere. We understand that in smaller to midsize environments, maintaining personal privacy can be challenging, but fostering a collaborative and respectful environment remains a priority for us. Micromanagement is a nuanced topic, and we appreciate your understanding of its potential necessity in certain departments. Your example of the phone team illustrates how operational needs can require a more structured approach, and performance-related attention is intended to support individual growth. We regret any perception of a toxic atmosphere. Our management places significant emphasis on preventing toxicity and continuously enhancing our workplace culture. Your mention of feeling pressured to contribute to a negative culture is taken seriously. We recognize that company culture is a collective effort and we are committed to ongoing improvements. We're glad to report that our pay structure has been adjusted to a twice-monthly system based on feedback like yours. We also appreciate your comments on the gender pay gap. Efforts are in place to ensure fairness in compensation, especially as most employees are onboarded through a temp agency, limiting opportunities for pay disparity. The 401k program is available to all employees, and while your experience has been positive, we apologize if others encountered difficulties. As of January 2023, we've increased contributions and actively encouraged participation to support employees' financial well-being. Parking concerns are recognized, and we understand that the impact varies based on individual commuting situations. Remote work has indeed alleviated some of these challenges. We advise anyone with parking concerns to inquire during the interview process for a comprehensive understanding. Promotions are designed to align with increased responsibilities and pay adjustments. We emphasize that management roles are manageable within a standard work week and do not require work-related concerns outside of regular hours. We appreciate your discretion in not addressing all subjective statements. For anyone considering joining American DataBank, we encourage you to reach out with your questions, allowing us to provide personalized responses and insights. Thank you once again for your thoughtful review, and we remain committed to creating a positive and thriving work environment for all our employees.
