Pros

Allen Lane is a great place to work. The work is hard but they usually treat you well and pay is good. They do lots of great events and promotions.

Cons

The company doesnt do anything to stop inappropriate behaviour on events and encourages heavy drinking. As an example, at our recent Christmas Party in Megeve in the french alps, a senior member of staff groped me and made a crude suggestion. I was shocked and upset as I thought he was a decent person until then. I told a friend about it the next morning and she said not to say anything as he was drunk and nobody would believe me, and I would probably be forced out of the company rather than them doing anything about him. I have not felt able to tell anyone but I cant afford to leave the company so have to put up with working with this person. I am posting this anonymously and not naming the individual but people need to know about this culture before being taken in by the glamour of the great events the company runs.

Allen Lane Response

We are very concerned to hear of this behaviour described which is deplorable and will not be tolerated at Allen Lane. We have launched an investigation and made clear we will support the person who has made this allegation wholeheartedly, and get to the bottom of it. All employees are expected to comply with our Bullying, Harassment and Discrimination Policy and we have clear processes in place for our team members to raise concerns in confidence. Pros

Great social events for employees

Cons

Unless you’re a recruiter there isn’t much progression and the pay is quite low . They don’t really care about your career development .Colleagues can also be quite rude and condescending. Also not very diverse .

Pros

They have good social events

Cons

One of the most toxic jobs I had the displeasure of working. The admin role is low pay (£25k) for the work, stress and hours you are doing, especially for London. Some of the consultants are lovely but there are few with very big egos who can't take "no" for an answer and understand that your role is not just about them. I had the displeasure of working with Liam who had the audacity to go on a tirade at me for a mistake HE made.
