Pros

experience dispatching emergency & non emergency calls experience OKAY dispatching equipment you'll get OT because EVERYONE calls off ALL of the time. and that will be good for you because you'll need the OT to barely have a $1,200 check especially if you get the medical coverage and the retirement taken out

Cons

The pay is enough to live off of if you're single, have kids, or debt. You're going to most likely need ANOTHER job then that other job is going to be hard to keep because they're working you for pennies at this job. Work System/Equipment has a lot of shutdowns. MOST shifts you can't have a lunch because there's only TWO workers (because someone called off the night before or last minute), because the board is full of troubles because something is wrong with the system main system, the phone lines suck (crazy right a dispatch center without working phones), the system over heats, the techs do NOT come in on the weekends and leave after a certain time leaving central station worker to help with troubles that we 8/10 times cannot help with. Workers taking over 10 min breaks to socialize with the manager or talk on the phone leaving the other workers slammed with calls... even when busy. Workers spend over the amount of time on a signal they have because they're laughing and talking with the dealer or customer (while the board and phones are ringing), they're taking personal calls on the work phone while in a signal, on the internet looking at things OUTSIDE of work when the board is full. Dexter (the dog the new "CEO" brings to work EVERYDAY) he barks A LOT and begs for food, Rarely time off because they'll call you to come in on your days off, HORRIBLE and childish management. HR does not keep their word. Work place is divided (downstairs workers are treated better than central station). Even Central Station is divided because of favoritism to workers who do the BARE minimum. Central Station worker are NOT appreciated by the company. I believe the whole company would do better if they FIRED more than half the workers... seriously. Showed appreciation to ALL workers, especially those who go ABOVE and BEYOND. Offer better training. Be more FIRM on rules and not letting certain workers get away with not following them. If for any reason a shift cannot have a lunch the company should allow the workers to eat upstairs. Central Station should be able to have their OWN refrigerator. And they desperately need a better company. Honestly the whole building should be thoroughly cleaned. If you have bad allergies I wouldn't recommend working in central station because it's very cold and dusty

Pros

Some very good people there but turnaround is a constant.

Cons

Pretty sad when you have to write your own reviews to cover up reality. Do think people won't notice the same date on your self reviews? Sad!!!
