Pros

Great group of people to work with. Great benefits.

Cons

Albemarles executive leadship only promotes from within their cliques/pets. They don't practice their own CORE values, there is no integrity! New hires... RUN! The communication at this place is poor, from executive leadership, on down. The work culture is very toxic and is unfitting for those looking to work at an organization that values their employees.

Pros

For new college grads in chemistry or chemical engineering, the experience you get at ALB will be quite valuable later in your career. ALB practices every major unit op you learned about in school and then some. While starting salaries make not be the absolute highest in industry, they're usually competitive.

Cons

The leadership team is extremely weak. Of the top five leaders listed in the 10K, none have run a chemical plant and only one has run a chemical business (it is now worth half what it was when he took over). The CEO is an attorney and so is his top lieutenant. Unfortunately, neither one of them is very self assured, so they typically pick subordinates who are non-threatening and as weak as possible. Do you have any idea how bad a Chemist or Sales Director you have to be to be weaker than a career attorney? Unfortunately, this lack of leadership has now made it down into the ranks and plants. My advice to those looking for a job at ALB is to acquire as much valuable experience as possible and leave 2-3 yrs out of school.

Pros

Used to be a great work environment. Individual contributors and non C-Suite leadership were amazing people to work with. Now, harmful, racist DEI hiring policies are implemented. The benefits are the best I've had anywhere.

Cons

The corporate values that upper management pushes do not match their actions. The very short Teams meeting for mass terminating those in the layoffs was the most cold, uncaring method I've ever heard of. Morale for those remaining is abysmal. CEO refuses to discuss if the business is being acquired by another company, which would of course result in further layoffs. Many of us are understanding that refusal as "Yes, we are being bought out." New DEI hiring policies prioritize skin color and identity politics over merit. Frequent barrage of unsolicited invites for identity-based group meetings for every type except one (guess which). Return to the office mandate is absurd since no one meets in person. Avoid this sinking ship and apply elsewhere.
