Pros

Good bonus structure, individual offices, very professional, annual company trip. The owner, Michael Grossman, is very intelligent and works hard.

Cons

Too much cattiness amongst the women, strange employee review process, you only get your bonus after working there for a year and many people are let go before receiving the bonus, when people are let go they are not given any reason at all. Nepotism. You have to constantly watch your back because bonuses are bases largely on your peer reviews.

Thank you for taking the time and sharing your feedback with our team. One of our core values at AdviceOne is Candor and Forgiveness. Through our attention to this core value, we have eliminated indirect “catty” behavior and instead, focus on providing candid feedback to promote and motivate our team members. We really pride ourselves on always keeping our team members in the know about where they are and what they need to improve upon. We certainly strive to evaluate our team members daily so that a termination doesn’t come as a surprise. We apologize if you didn’t feel like you were provided this experience of direct conversational feedback. Another item you mentioned is AdviceOne’s bonus structure, which is purposefully delayed for new hires. It is one thing to impress us in the interview and within your first 90 days, but it’s another to keep impressing us. We reward longevity and growth.

Pros

AMAZING sell during the interview process. Given a mentor and scheduled check-ins (see cons) Good starting Salary Beautiful office

Cons

Where do I start... Heed the negative reviews, the positive reviews are clearly padding to increase interest in working here. - You will be assessed on how random power hungry individuals feel about you. - You will receive unfair and often very confusing feedback. You will leave a mentor meeting feeling great and as you process the conversation later you will begin to feel you didn't actually get anything constructive from the conversation. - Office is dominated by women who are easily threatened by the success of others. - As stated in other reviews, you will be given extremely positive feedback and then very quickly be let go with zero explanation. - This is a cult atmosphere and appears to be very positive; appearances are deceiving. Don't sip the punch and have individual thoughts, if you don't immediately get drunk on the punch you will be let go quickly. - You will not be doing what you were hired to do. - They hire you based on previous work experience and success but then tell you those experiences/knowledge/skills you have learned are irrelivent because they are not the AdviceOne way. - I worked for 2 weeks before I had any idea I had two supervisors. - Management structure is very unclear and no one focuses on one department at a time. Makes communication difficult and often confusing. Please invest in yourself and you future and pass on this "Opportunity." I am a skilled and successful, hardworking individual and my experience here only hurt my ability to find the place where I could experience success. Also, be aware that once you are let go with no expressed reason (even on your dismissal paperwork) you are going to have to try to explain in future interviews your experiences here. It's almost impossible and if you are not prepared it could cost you future opportunities all due to no fault of your own.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with our team. We apologize that you feel negatively about your experience working with AdviceOne and that you perceived some of us as power hungry individuals. We can assure you that we are always rooting for our teammates to succeed - including new hires - because we understand that your success leads to greater company growth. This is what creates that cult-like atmosphere: a team of people all rowing in the same direction with equal measures of ambition and passion. We promise every individual at AdviceOne that when you look to your left and you look to your right, everyone is just as all-in as you are. If that concept makes you uncomfortable, then you won’t ever be satisfied working at our firm; it’s the correct decision for all involved for you to have the opportunity to pursue a fulfilling career elsewhere. We appreciate your candid feedback as it provides us with insight on what we can do better. Thank you for taking the time to help us improve.

Pros

They are VERY convincing.

Cons

This company is very convincing and will tell you exactly what you want to hear but they are incredibly sketchy once you get in the doors. You will be given a mentor and trainers who tell you you are doing great and picking up on things and will accelerate quickly, then they'll just fire you randomly one day. It is the strangest environment. I worked there for a little over a week and had great feedback from everyone, then one day they came in my office and said their "staff has decided to end my employment." No reason given, no warning, just fired. You will apply for a certain position (HR, Wealth Mgmt, Marketing) and once you get in there you will be doing nothing but concierge and they will tell you to get used to it because that is all you'll ever do. You will spend your days cleaning tables and emptying dishwashers. They are specific and "perfect" to the point of insanity. I have never seen a company like this, it is almost like a cult and if you are not readily accepted they'll toss you in no time. Do NOT fall into their trap. I turned down another job for this position and now I have nothing!

Thank you for your feedback on AdviceOne. We purposely start most of our new hires at entry level in our Concierge department, which involves work that includes, but is not limited to, setting up meeting rooms for client appointments. Though these tasks may seem menial or tedious, our team members fully understand the value that their fanatically high standards bring to our clients’ experience. Exceptional client service is always AdviceOne’s number one priority, and our Concierge team is highly valued for their dedication to our family of clients. Based on feedback we’ve received about candidates’ misconceptions of our positions, we no longer advertise for specialized departments and have altered our job postings to create clear expectations of what each position entails. We never want team members to feel blindsided when they come on board, so we make sure we are clearly communicating their roles, responsibilities, and room for growth.
