Pros

Free fruit once a week.

Cons

ARM was once a great place to work, but things have changed significantly since the MBO. Communication from leadership is poor and often causes more harm than good. A clear example was an all-staff email about a mandatory office meeting with only a week’s notice. It caused panic about potential layoffs, prompting a rushed follow-up from HR to say no one was losing their jobs. Then on Monday, they announced redundancies. It was awkward, confusing, and poorly handled. There’s also a noticeable issue with nepotism. Some employees, often family members of board members, seem to be protected from performance expectations or job cuts, even when they don’t contribute much. At the same time, strong-performing leaders and directors were let go, which didn’t make sense to the wider team. Despite financial struggles, the company didn’t focus on improving sales performance. Instead of addressing underperformance on the sales floor, they removed operational leaders who actually motivated and supported the team. This damaged morale even more. Lastly, decisions from the CEO over the past couple of years have felt erratic and damaging to the business. Anyone who challenges the direction or offers ideas for improvement risks being pushed out. There’s a culture of "agree or disappear," which isn’t healthy for long-term growth.

Pros

If you like lack of consistency in management, loads of kpi's, a condescending and overpaid CEO who is so detached from day to day of our industry then this is the place for you

Cons

Never see anything through, bit of a boys club and there huge disparity gaps on pay with unsurprisingly the men getting paid way more

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your experience with our company. We value the opinions of our employees and strive to create a positive and supportive work environment. We are sorry to hear that you have concerns about the consistency in management and the perceived detachment of our CEO from the day-to-day operations of our industry. It's unfortunate you should feel this way as our CEO is very much involved with the day-to-day running of the business and our management team has experience of over 40 years combined within the recruitment industry (and 10+ years in management at ARM alone) Additionally, we are concerned about the mention of gender pay disparity and the perception of a "boys club" environment. We take matters of fairness and equality very seriously and are committed to ensuring a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone is treated fairly and given equal opportunities for growth and advancement. We have policies and processes in place to address any issues related to pay equity and can ensure that there is no disparity based on gender.

Pros

- Run frequent incentive schemes quarterly (trips away, time off, financial rewards) but the same 5 or 6 people win every time. - Have a core group of 5-10 great recruiters across the company. These people are generally kept as Consultants rather than promoted to management (trapped by the commission!) and are very good in encouraging others. - The possibility to earn some very good money! The top 5 or so recruiters will be earning excellent commission. - Very friendly people

Cons

- Constantly changing procedures - incentive schemes seem geared up to continually reward the same people rather than new people joining and growing desks. - Management stuck in the past. The Management of the business have almost entirely been successful recruiters in the 90's but have little idea of day-to-day recruitment today. - Very aggressive sales focus with KPI's for every metric you could imagine. The approach is very much driven to getting as much volume out the door with the hope something will stick rather than considered on what your desk would benefit most from. - Extremely cut throat. I have seen people paraded as hero's one quarter for achieve 200% to target and then put on performance review the next. In my team of 10-15 people, 5 of us were stable in our roles there with the other desks constantly filled with new people given a few months to bill and then replaced if not successful.
