Pros

Good resume builder and you learn the digital advertising business as well as sales skills, Surprisingly good health insurance and PTO

Cons

For 90% of the employees, AdKarma is a starter job where they will be less than 18 months. By the time you get close to your co-workers, they move on to bigger and better things. Pay is inadequate. Commission potential is much lower than management will have you believe. I was told I had potential to make 6 figures, realistically you'll be lucky to make 40k before taxes. No recognizable culture

Thank you for the feedback. We appreciate you highlighting the company’s outstanding benefits, as well as our sales training. To address some of the comments you made – first, AdKarma is fortunate to be surrounded by some outstanding colleges and universities, and we recruit heavily from this excellent pool of young talent. So for many of our team members, this is their first job out of school. While we hope to retain our talented employees long-term, we realize being in a college town, it is inevitable that we will lose some of our valued team members over time to larger markets. However, now that we are part of a publicly-traded company with offices around the country, it gives us options that we did not have before as far as retaining talent. Over the past couple years, we have had several individuals explore opportunities to stay with the company and work out of a different RhythmOne office (i.e. NYC, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco). Furthermore, our base salaries are competitive with the market and experience level of the person applying for a position, and there is an annual review process that gives everyone an opportunity to receive a raise. There is also strong potential to make healthy commission as an account executive. With any sales position, what you put into it, is what you will get out of it. That being said, some individuals are better suited for sales than others. We have seen numerous team members over the years make 2x-3x their base salaries after commission is factored in, and we have seen other individuals make six-figure incomes repeatedly over the years. One of our management philosophies surrounding client service that we try to instill in our team members is never to over-promise and under-deliver. We certainly wouldn’t over-promise and tell our own valued AdKarma team members about compensation potential if we didn’t wholeheartedly believe that hitting those numbers was absolutely obtainable. As far as company culture, I would love to understand your feelings around that a bit more and see where we can improve. Feel free to discuss with me or share any ideas and feedback with your direct manager. Finally, as far as mixing up the day to day to prevent burn out...one of the great things about working at AdKarma is that we give our team members the freedom to structure and plan their own day. Each person knows their work style best to prevent burn out, and we have confidence in our team members to structure their day how they want to, while still helping achieve company and personal goals and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. We also regularly plan fun events in the office to help break up the day, and there are monthly team activities outside of the office that help promote team building and provide a break as well. – Best, Ann Wilhelm, SVP Operations

Pros

Good atmosphere. Young workplace. Every employee was eager to help newcomers. Terrific start for young people looking to get into Digital Advertising Casual dress Benefits were pretty great for fresh grads.

Cons

Management didn't clearly lay expectations out for what was required for an individual. The training was overly rigorous and not scheduled well. Culture is non-existent, and they didn't fight the unrealistic requirements RythmOne had set for them. They will do whatever necessary to try to meet the profit expectations.

Thank you for highlighting AdKarma’s great atmosphere and our helpful, dedicated team members. We are lucky to have such wonderful people at AdKarma that work hard to ensure our new team members are welcomed with open arms! To address a few of your other comments – management works hard to ensure that every team member has a clear understanding of their responsibilities, tasks and performance goals. I’m sorry if your experience at the company did not align with this objective. Our managers are dedicated to providing quality feedback to team members in one-on-one and in team meetings and are always readily available to answer questions or talk about any issue someone wants to raise. With regard to training, we are always looking for new ways to improve our training process. While we realize that everyone learns things differently and at a different pace, the company works to ensure that refresher training sessions are set up, one-on-one shadowing exercises are scheduled and follow-ups with our new team members are done to gather feedback on how training went for each individual. Furthermore, we will always strive to explore and exhaust all available business options that meet our company’s philosophies and practices in order to reach our revenue and profit goals as a company. As part of a publicly traded company, we owe that to the shareholders who own stock in RhythmOne and have put their faith in us, and in some cases, life savings in the stock. We should seek to perform at the highest level every day not only for ourselves personally, but also for the shareholders who own stock in RhythmOne. In terms of company culture, culture means different things to different people, and we firmly believe that we all have a hand in creating our company’s culture. Though three of the four founding members of AdKarma are not millennials, we have worked hard over the years to create a culture that is in line with what millennials want and an environment in which they truly excel in. Millennials are the #1 reason our company has reached the level of success that it has over the years. Our company would not have become what it is today without having a strong company culture – one based on professional courtesy, teamwork and mutual respect, one based on driving success and excellence for our clients and partners, one based on supporting and being accessible to our team members any way that we can, one based on recognizing the achievements and contributions of our team members, one based on accountability, one based on hard work, one based on giving our team members the freedom and trust to pave their own road to success, etc. These have always been the company’s core values, and it is from these core values that we built our culture. We’re not a “one or two liner company motto” type company, where the motto will be forgotten after a few weeks. Our foundation and culture has bred enormous success for us, and it will continue to do so in the future. I’m sorry that our culture did not fit what you were looking for, but I hope you find the culture that is right for you as you move along your career path. -- Best, Ann Wilhelm, SVP Operations

Pros

management is writing fake reviews to save their reputation. trust me, read the reviews that are 3 stars or under, they are the only honest ones.

Cons

like i said, read the real reviews. i'm not saying adkarma is a horrible place to work hands down, but there are serious issues and management is wasting their time.

Thank you for your thoughtful, in-depth review. It is productive to read such meaningful, constructive advice and opinion rather than a review that is hateful, untruthful and offers no real insight into how we can strive to create a better work environment at AdKarma. Getting a life is such a great pearl of wisdom, thank you. As far as halting making fake Glassdoor reviews, that is great advice. We had no idea we were even doing that! I’m not sure your words will lead to a better work environment here at AdKarma. But in the future, if you have constructive suggestions and ideas that can help us build a better work environment at AdKarma, please don’t hesitate to come speak with me. We are always looking for ways to improve. Happy to have you onboard! -- Ann Wilhelm, SVP Operations
