Pros

-meaningful work, working on behavior plans to improve life and functioning of children on the Autism spectrum -my supervisors were great--they came to a session once a week and were always available via text, a phone call or email -can be flexible, I was able to schedule make up hours in several instances for sessions I had to miss due to being sick, etc.

Cons

-some of the behaviors you experience can be overwhelming at first (biting, tantrums etc) depending on your client, but your response to the behavior is always laid out in the behavior plan, and your supervisor is always just a phone call away if a session starts to get really out of hand -would be better if it consisted of more hours a week per client, but I had the minimum of 10 per client

Pros

Attentive supervisors, full training, rewarding

Cons

If a client cancels, you will see it next paycheck. There’s nothing to do about it and some families cancel many days on a row.

Pros

If you are dedicated, caring, patient, and good with kids, this could be a great job. This can be a difficult and stressful job, but the growth I've seen makes it all worth it! Decent starting wage and good benefits. Supportive management. (I've seen others stating that management doesn't care, but I've been here a long time and have rarely, if ever, experienced that. Quite the opposite: I know I've had some of the more difficult cases and have always felt supervisors to be responsive and supportive.)

Cons

No opportunity for growth without getting additional degrees. Very isolated work environment, even outside of covid restrictions. Hours are mostly nights and weekends. No longer offer salary for therapists. Not a lot of opportunity for make up sessions due to scheduling, so if a session gets cancelled, you just don't get those hours and pay.
