Pros

Pretty much Nothing. Building located in Bohemia, NY industrial park near airport (5 Orville Dr., Suite 400). Nice diner and delis to go get lunch and coffee when you need to escape this horrible place to work! Nice coworkers who end up leaving because of such terrible management. You get an hour for lunch.

Cons

Pretty much Everything. Management lacks communication skills and no honesty with employees. Very low minimum wage offered with little to no benefits of which AMAC only pays a very small percentage towards. This company misleads new candidates with promises of raises and promotions if you prove yourself, but that DOES NOT happen! There is no chance for advancement here unless you have connections with the higher ups. Be ready to stay in your current position and keep your hiring salary if you work here no matter how hard you try! No training is offered in your position but management wants you to perform to perfection anyway while management puts more and more workload and responsibility on your shoulders. The stress of working here is simply not worth the very small wage AMAC offers! Some people simply stop coming in when they quit and this happens quite frequently!

Pros

Flexiblity with your schedule, if you are liked by management.

Cons

This place starts with promising that the sky is the limit! That you can achieve whatever you're willing to work for. While in reality they have a hard time generating good leads to make your sales goals. Their bonus structure is numbers based, and tier structured, so after 20 Medicare supplement/Medicare Advantage Sales you will finally be able to collect $50 per sale on those only and never on Perscription Drug Plans. One might think that isn't hard but, a lot of their leads are frugality induced and Seniors are upset when you call. So only after maybe your second with the company, and 'building your pipeline' can you efficiently meet your goals. For 10 months out of the year you'll be lucky if you can meet your goals, and for the other two if you work hard you should be able to. As though all that stress is not enough, the training is obsolete. Medicare is highly regulated and agents are constantly audited, with the expectation of perfection. You will learn if you last, by trial and error. The office dynamics are unethical, gender biased, poorly managed and over all dysfunctional. They're inconsistent and treat staff with disrespect. They lack leadership experience. They impose biased preferantal treatment based on 1) individual success 2) family relation or association by friendship. 50% of the office staff is composed of family or pre-existing friendships of the founders grandson. The office climate is determined by inconsistent mood swings displayed by management, without the prospect of a human resource outlet to mediate any personal grievances. If you don't know they're 'the conservative alternative' to AARP, and they will impose their political beliefs on you. This is where dreams come to die! If you're aspiring to build a career as a Medicare Insurance Agent, this is not that place. If you're a seasoned agent this probably won't work for you.
