Pros

Good benefits for full-time staff, including 401k AND pension. They're slowly improving on office perks like standing desks, in-house Starbucks cafe and meditation room. Great learning opportunities for entry-level candidates looking to get started in network news. Bare bones editorial staffing across departments translates to multiple opportunities for producers to take the helm and hone their craft here. . . at the expense of having a life.

Cons

Non-existent work-life balance for the typical show producer. Lean staffing means quick burnout, low morale and a constant revolving door. There is zero diversity in the newsroom, forget about upper management. A dearth of minority perspectives where it matters, resulting in the fluff stories viewers see or worse, cliched and superficial stories on race relations, class and social justice issues. Pay is not competitive at all, sadly. Forget about promotions . . . unless you're a Caucasian male.

Pros

You get to tell people you work here

Cons

- Talent is wretched and treats people like slaves - No punishment for bad talent behavior - Person leading the newsroom lacks any journalism experience - New President says she wants change, but it has gotten worse since she arrived with EPs scurrying to secure top roles - Reorgs almost every year to benefit top management - HR works for the company to protect the company from people who figured out the bs - HR will only listen when they want to fire someone - Senior Producers and EPs on GMA are verbally abusive - Backstabbing - Promoting people to talent roles bc they know how to read words on a screen, no real journalist among them.
