Meaningful, impactful, challenging, and fun work
Pros
I've been with this organization for more than 17 years, including through some challenging times, and I'm genuinely proud of who we are today. As a leader here, I've been fortunate to be a part of internal work that focuses on transparency, fairness, support, inclusivity, and taking employee feedback seriously. There is a genuine belief that every employee plays an important role in our success. As an employee, I feel fortunate to have spent so many years doing meaningful and challenging work that positively impacts all of our communities. Along the way, I've found friends and built strong working relationships with my colleagues.
Cons
As a grant funded organization, priorities and funding levels evolve which means one has to be ready to adapt and pivot quickly. While this is not necessarily a "con", it requires flexibility, and the ability to plan strategically for continuity. Leadership consistently plans ahead and keeps staff informed. While this can be challenging, it is also exciting and creates opportunities for learning, new work, and professional and personal growth.
