Pros

The mission at heart is great. The issue is that board members and those who managed to sneak their way up into the leadership team slowly lose sight of the mission and blatantly disregard all that those "on the ground" are sacrificing for. Very start-uppy vibe for any youngsters willing to exchange an appropriate wage for a cool facility and some snacks. You can bring your dog if leadership likes you/your dog enough.

Cons

The downward projection is truly sad. I feel like there could be a documentary about "The Rise & Fall of 9 Dots". it started with a humble mission and has expanded to a cut-throat company that takes advantage of social justice warriors. It is a non-profit, none of us were there for the money; however, the vast distinction between the leadership team and the rest of the associates are beyond cringey. There is absolutely no transparency and they treat everyone like they are disposable. There is no clear leadership; these people act like they've never managed people in their entire careers. They will give you a made-up title with no salary change. They'll tell you that you are now in charge of x amount of kids (usually a WAY higher teacher:student ratio than reasonably deemed safe), voila, good luck, oh but we're still going to pay you only $30k. I'm most upset because when I was there we were often encouraged to come on Glassdoor to write a gleaming review. For recruiting/marketing purposes, they would say. They'd also (during org-wide meetings) invalidate any concerns brought up by saying we needed to get used to structural changes. Um. If everyone around you is saying something is wrong, maybe try a different answer than "get used to it". And now I am seeing this is exactly what the reviews are saying! Great place to work as long as you get used to things changing! Its really sad. Just so you know, they went from having a non-profit executive director to having a CEO now. They are pulling most if not all free programming. BYE 9 Dots you are incredibly abusive and I hope this comes to light. Ask them about how they handled this pandemic! ha
