Wates has been providing construction services since Edward Wates and his three brothers began building houses in 1897. The group, still family-owned, has expanded to offer a large range of construction and development services, interior fit-outs, renovations, and real estate development. It works on commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects, including shopping centers, schools, universities, and prisons. Its Wates Living Space arm builds affordable housing. Involved in historic building renovations, Wates has restored the Royal Hospital Chelsea and The National Gallery.
