Description United Test and Assembly Center (UTAC) puts microchip makers to the test. The company tests logic, memory, mixed-signal, and radio-frequency semiconductors, then assembles the leadframe or laminate packages that house them. It also offers related services, such as drop shipment, failure analysis, laser repair, package development, and test program development. Customers include Broadcom, Hynix, Infineon, and Freescale. UTAC has manufacturing operations in China, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. Most of its sales come from customers in the Asia/Pacific region. In 2007 Asian buyout firm Affinity Equity Partners and TPG Capital took UTAC private in a deal valued at S$2.2 billion ($1.43 billion) in cash.
