Description Featured in Middle Eastern literature, Roc is a large, mythical bird; however, Roc Oil Company's "nest" is built well outside of the Middle East. ROC is an upstream oil and gas company with exploration and production interests in Australia, Africa, China, and the UK. Some of its assets include the Cliff Head Oil Field, located offshore in the Perth Basin in Western Australia, as well as the onshore Basker-Manta-Gummy (BMG) Oil and Gas Fields, also located in Australia. Together, the company's total assets cover 57,000 square kilometers and produced more than 4 million barrels of oil equivalent in 2008. ROC was formed 1997 as a private company, but it became a publicly-traded company two years later.
