ROHTO Pharmaceutical has been medicating Japan for more than a century. Founded in 1899, the company makes a wide variety of over-the-counter health care and personal care products for customers in its home market and around the world. Among other things, ROHTO makes and sells ophthalmic products such as eye drops and eye washes; OTC medicines such as pain relievers and gastrointestinal remedies; skin care products, including lotions, cleansers, and sunscreen; and health foods and nutritional supplements. US-based subsidiary The Mentholatum Company makes about 30 products, including Mentholatum-branded ointments, heating rubs, and lip balms, as well as the OXY line of acne treatments.
