Description Optelecom-NKF chooses to make light of video. The company makes optical fiber-based data transmission and signal compression equipment and fiber-optic modems. Its products are used in a number of niche applications, including highway traffic monitoring, air traffic control video monitor displays, security surveillance, and manufacturing process and control applications. Optelecom-NKF also provides optical fiber coils used in military rotation-sensing instruments; its customers include such military contractors as Boeing. The company gets more than two-thirds of its sales outside the US. In 2011, it was acquired by Dutch systems provider TKH Group in a deal valued at about $9.2 million.
