The liquidator sells a variety of merchandise -- including apparel, food, furniture, housewares, and hardware -- that has been obtained through distress situations, such as bankruptcies, receiverships, closeouts, inventory overruns, insurance claims, buybacks, and natural disasters, in North America. The firm operates about 85 stores, which trade under the Liquidation World and LW -- Everybody's Outlet Store banners, in Canada and the US lure bargain hunters with ever-changing inventories priced at 30% to 70% below normal retail prices. Founded in 1986, Liquidation World was acquired by the Big Lots closeout chain in the US in 2011.
