We're looking for an Analytics Engineer to join our Data Engineering Chapter within the Customer Tribe, helping build trusted, scalable data products that power insights across ASB.

Working from our Albany office, you'll join a high-performing team of data professionals and play a key role in shaping how customer data is transformed, modelled, and delivered. You'll work closely with stakeholders to turn complex data into meaningful, actionable outcomes that support ASB's strategic priorities.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

As an Analytics Engineer, you'll sit at the intersection of business and technology, translating data requirements into robust and scalable data solutions. You'll partner closely with stakeholders across the Customer Tribe to understand business needs, design data models, and deliver high-quality data products that enable reporting, analytics, and decision-making.

This is a hands-on role where you'll work with modern cloud data technologies including Snowflake and dbt, building and optimising data pipelines and models while ensuring strong data quality, governance, and security standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Partnering with stakeholders to understand and translate business requirements into technical data solutions.

• Designing, developing, and maintaining data models and transformations that support customer domain data products.

• Building and enhancing data pipelines using Snowflake, dbt, and related technologies.

• Ensuring data quality, governance, reliability, and security controls are embedded into solutions.

• Collaborating with Data Engineers, Analysts, Product Owners, and business teams to deliver data-driven outcomes.

• Supporting analytical initiatives and helping teams leverage data to improve customer experiences and business performance.

• Contributing to continuous improvement across data engineering practices, tooling, and standards.

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with a passion for solving business problems through data.

You'll bring:

• 3-5 years experience working in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or a similar data-focused role.

• Strong knowledge of data modelling, data transformation, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration concepts.

• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, dbt, and modern cloud-based data platforms.

• Strong SQL skills and a solid understanding of data warehousing principles.

• The ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and collaboration skills.

• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.

• Experience within banking, financial services, or large enterprise environments.

• Knowledge of customer data domains, customer analytics, or customer journey mapping.

• Exposure to operational data products and modern data product practices.
