YOUR TASKS
This is a full-time permanent position (40 hours per week). Located in Auckland, New Zealand.
We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Design & Development team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys leading design work, mentoring others, and being hands-on across the full product development lifecycle.
About the role
In this role, you’ll take the lead on mechanical product design while supporting and guiding a team of engineers. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products from concept through to production.
You’ll also play a key role in strengthening team capability, particularly around CAD (CATIA) and development processes.
What you’ll be doing (not limited to)

Leading mechanical design activities across development projects

Designing and developing components with a focus on quality, cost, and manufacturability

Creating and reviewing 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation

Supporting and mentoring team members, including CATIA training and guidance

Collaborating with internal teams (engineering, quality, production, purchasing) and external partners

Ensuring designs meet technical, customer, and regulatory requirements

Contributing to project planning, timelines, and delivery milestones

Supporting continuous improvement of design processes and systems (PDM, PLM, etc.)
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
What you’ll bring
-
5+ years’ experience in mechanical or product design engineering
-
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Industrial Engineering (or similar)

Strong experience with CATIA (essential)

Proven background in plastic component design, injection moulding, stamping, and tooling

Experience working across full product development lifecycle

Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams
Nice to have

Experience in automotive or similar manufacturing environments

Knowledge of DFMEA and industry design standards

Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems

Hands-on workshop or prototyping experience
