Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
We are looking for an outstanding candidate to join the vibrant Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering | Te Tari Pūhanga Hangarau.
Our Department has a significant focus on industry‑based, project‑driven learning and research. We are seeking candidates to support this focus with extensive industry experience, or academics who bring industry experience or strong industry connections.
In this role, you will work closely with industry partners to identify, scope, design, and support the delivery of industry‑based projects that enhance teaching across our undergraduate Electrical and Electronic, Computer, and Mechatronic Engineering programs. A major focus of the role will be supporting ENEL400, the final‑year capstone research and design project course. This course involves team‑based, industry‑embedded projects that prepare students for the realities of professional engineering practice.
Your primary responsibility will be to develop, manage, coordinate, and grow industry relationships. You will work with academics and industry partners to scope, design, and support the delivery of projects within ENEL400. In addition, you will contribute to teaching ENEL400 and supervising projects within ENEL400. You will also lead other industry‑focused departmental activities, including marketing and outreach, and support engagement with industry for research.
Success in this position requires a highly collaborative approach. You will be expected to build, maintain, and expand industry networks within both the local and national engineering sectors.
Mōu | Who You Are
We are looking for an experienced engineer with a background in electrical, electronic, computer, software, or mechatronics engineering. You will have a strong understanding of engineering design and/or systems development. You will hold a Bachelor of Engineering or a related qualification. Importantly, you will have strong relationships with the local, regional, and national engineering community and the ability to develop and grow these relationships.
We’re looking for an engineer who can work effectively with industry partners, academics and students. You will be able to communicate with different audiences, think critically, and work in a structured and organised manner.

This role sits within the Academic Staff, Associated Staff and Academic Support Staff Collective Agreement and the following annual salary scale applies: Lecturer (Teaching and Administration) $70,258 - $110,038 (pro-rated) - appointment level dependant on skills and experience.
