Lead the logistics, warehouse and dispatch operations of a busy Auckland manufacturing business. We are looking for a hands-on Logistics Manager to lead our warehouse, dispatch and logistics operations. This role is suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, enjoys solving operational problems and can balance customer service, cost control and supply chain efficiency.
This is not a desk-only logistics role. You will be directly involved in daily operations, working closely with warehouse, production, planning and sales teams to ensure materials and finished goods move safely, efficiently and on time.
- Manage export and domestic logistics operations to ensure customer DIFOT targets are achieved
- Coordinate inbound container movements and raw material supply to support production schedules
- Oversee warehouse, dispatch and yard operations
- Manage freight providers, transport companies and third-party logistics suppliers
- Control freight, detention, demurrage and distribution costs
- Ensure shipping and logistics documentation is completed accurately and on time
- Maintain inventory accuracy and oversee stocktake processes
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, transitional facility and transport regulations
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on logistics efficiency and cost reduction
- Work closely with Planning, Purchasing, Operations and Sales teams to resolve supply chain challenges
- Manage waste and recycling logistics activities
- Lead and support warehouse and dispatch staff
To be considered for this role you must have:
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant and a relevant level 7 bachelor degree or higher
- Strong experience managing freight providers, transport scheduling and warehouse operations
- Experience with import/export shipping processes and freight documentation
- Experience managing inventory accuracy and stock control systems
- Proven ability to manage freight costs and negotiate with logistics providers
- Strong operational problem-solving ability in a fast-moving environment
- Experience leading teams in warehouse, dispatch or logistics operations
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements within warehousing and logistics
- ERP system experience — exposure to QAD or similar manufacturing systems highly regarded
- Intermediate to advanced Excel and reporting capability
Highly regarded experience includes:
- FMCG, packaging, food manufacturing or industrial manufacturing experience
- Transitional Facility experience
- Exposure to continuous improvement or lean manufacturing environments
- Experience managing 3PL and off-site storage operations
- Organised and accountable
