I performed an initial python coding assessment, then had a call with a recruiter to discuss my experience and interest in the role, and then moved on to a technical interview with the hiring manager. During both the initial call and manager interview, I asked how many women are in engineering at the company, and the answer was very few/almost none despite their exponential growth in hiring, which is a red flag to me. The technical content of the manager interview was easy and we seemed to have good rapport, so I was surprised to hear nothing afterwards. It was difficult to get communication from the recruiter - after the technical interview, I followed up by for weeks with no reply before I finally just got an automated email saying that I was not moving on to the next round. Overall I feel that my time and effort during the application process was treated disrespectfully, and I think I may understand now why they have such little gender diversity in engineering.
