      C++ Developer Interview

      2 Jul 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

      I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at think-cell in Jun 2020

      Interview

      "Interview" is automated. You have to write a solution for a task, that is close to their every day work. And they say that it's difficult to solve and might take 9 hours to do it. Then you receive task that is easily solvable, I already knew the solution when I opened editor with project for it. Yes, it so much easy. The only problem here is that you don't have any room for mistakes. But you don't know it until you fail. Yes, they tell you to check solution for mistakes and corner cases, but I saw same warning even when I was asked to write linked list. You can just say that solution is checked automatically and you have limited amount of tries. And that says a lot about company. Real life work process has different flow. And looking at reviews here, I am sure that my first impression was not mistaken. At the end when you upload wrong solution, it just disables web site. Nothing else written, like you are failed, or we will check your solution anyway and tell you the result. Very user friendly.

      Dear Candidate, Thank you for the review. Indeed we assess not only programming skills, but also attention to details. Sadly, many applicants miss this point and therefore their solutions get rejected. If you are still interested in the position, we welcome you to reapply after some time. We wish you all the best!

      Interview

      After spending hours to do a test - they reject the application without even bothering providing feedback (and that despite the fact the test was well done and passing all the tests) - that is not a professional behavior and lacks respect for the time people invest in the process.

      Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you found the process frustrating, especially considering the time and effort you invested. We understand how important it is for candidates to feel that their work is acknowledged and respected. We understand that not receiving detailed feedback can create the impression that your effort was not fully recognized. However, providing specific feedback on the assessment would compromise the integrity of our evaluation process and our ability to apply it consistently to all candidates. We appreciate your understanding in this regard. Best regards, People Team

      Interview

      First it was a coffee chat and then a 10h technical assesment, without any feedback for their side. It was frustrating because after investing a lot of time, they don't even tell you nothing.

      Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the process felt frustrating. We aim to create a recruitment experience that is both fair and respectful of candidates’ time. Our technical test is designed to assess problem-solving skills in a realistic way and help us identify the strong technical abilities required to maintain the high standards of think-cell’s products. The platform allows up to 10 hours to complete the task to give candidates flexibility, for example to take breaks if needed. In practice, many candidates complete and submit their solutions within around 2–4 hours. Regarding feedback, we also understand that not receiving detailed comments on a submission can feel disappointing. Unfortunately, providing specific feedback on the assessment would compromise the integrity of our evaluation process and our ability to continue using this test consistently with all candidates. We appreciate your understanding on this matter. Best regards, People Team
