      Technical Support Engineer Interview

      19 Nov 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Orlando, FL
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at iboss Network Security (Orlando, FL)

      Interview

I was initially called by their internal recruiter. The call lasted 30 minutes and basically reviewed the job location, duties, and if I was still interested. The second call was with the manager of the support engineers and that call was mostly about my employment history and why I thought that this job was right for me. Then they had a technical test which was done via WebEx and RDP in a test environment. There were three different tests, a 1 hour windows test, a 1 hour Linux test, and a two hour combined test. The in person interview was in two parts: first an hour with the support engineer manager and then an hour with the VP over that department. I was told that there was a hiring committee and they looked at all the candidates before making a selection. I have had no contact with them in a month, so I’m assuming that Iwas not selected.

      Technical Support Engineer Interview

      5 Mar 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at iboss Network Security (London, England) in Feb 2021

      Interview

There was not a 1:1 interview, given, full stop. One, would assume there'll be some form of direct contact by somebody to introduce and discuss the role in more detail. I had received an invitation to take an online technical aptitude test. This would require around 30 mins of your personal time. Due to other commitments at the time, i'd duly informed them that there was going to be a delay in taking the test. (Other interviews, preparation, etc) I never got a response back to acknowledge this. I had completed the online technical aptitude test, then follow up with another e-mail to courteously inform the person of this. Again, no response. Following on from this, I also connected with them on LinkedIn, again neither no connection nor a response. Clearly, this company is lacking one of the simple and major fundamentals, that being 'communication'. This is just a waste of a candidate's personal time, as also more importantly their productivity. If a company is unable to be courteous to let a candidate know the outcome of their test or even a follow-up to say a polite 'no, you've been unsuccessful' on this occasion. This review is corroborated with another similar written outcome and an identical experience. So please review and consider before applying to a company that doesn't wish to communicate with candidates that apply for one of their positions.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

For the first test, due to the technical nature of this position and the number of applicants, we have established a quick 30-minute test that covers technical concepts for all potential candidates to participate in. The test is designed to identify those candidates that are qualified for the position and minimize general applications. Please click on the link below to access the test. You will be prompted to enter the password below. The test has a time limit of 30 minutes. The timer starts when the first page of questions is presented. You only get one chance to take the test and the timer cannot be stopped, so please set aside ample time with low distraction for the test. If you have trouble accessing the test, please contact us to have the test link resent.

      Technical Support Engineer Interview

      8 Jul 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at iboss Network Security

      Interview

Did not even get to the interview process. Too many red flags. Recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn, I responded saying I would be interested in learning more. He then copy/pasted a generic "thanks for applying, please take this 30 minute aptitude test" message. First, I did not apply, you contacted me. Second, we haven't even talked about the position, fit, compensation, etc aside from the generic description. Third, you want me to take a technical aptitude test before we've even spoken? What a total lack of consideration on your part for the importance of my time. If you don't care before I'm hired, why would you care after? Maybe it's just the one recruiter I dealt with, but that's a big no from me.

      Question 1

Can you take time out of your day to take a technical aptitude test before I can bother to talk to you?
