      Software Developer Interview

      19 Jan 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at iMedia

      Interview

It was a phone interview and from the get-go it was clear the person was not interested and just wasting both of our time. He was asking unrealistic questions unrelated to the job and trying to set unrealistic expectations for a software developer role that is extremely underpaid compared to market value. (they pay around 50k for software devs which is about 40k under compared to my other offers and 40k under the market value for entry level software engineers). The person who I know did get it, simply had a couple questions asked to her about her strengths and weakness and not much of even an onsite technical.

      Question 1

I understand you have completed professional and paid projects but did you complete any projects not through an employer? (His tone was disrespectful and he may it seem like he had a set of things specifically tailored to make sure that I don't meet the qualifications)

      Question 2

He said "The commute is really far, I think it's terrible" and I responded and said that I am open to relocation should I be extended a full time permanent role. He said the commute would still be terrible even if I relocate 10 minutes down the street. (Keep in mine that I lived 40 minutes away from the location...)

      Question 3

      What is object oriented programming?

      Software Developer Interview

      11 May 2010
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at iMedia in Apr 2010

      Interview

I was first contacted by a headhunter for the position. I met with the Director of IT and one of the Senior Software Developers. It was one of the more pleasant interview experiences I've had in quite a while. Both guys were intelligent, competent and personable. There wasn't a lot of ego in the room. The interview questions were insightful, they focused more on the big picture, very conceptual in nature. All-in-all, one of the more positive interview experiences I've had in my career. They seem like good people to work with.
