      Manager Interview

      3 Jun 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Irvine, CA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at iHerb (Irvine, CA)

      Interview

Long and drawn out. I had three interviews... First was with HR. A week later with Director. A couple weeks later with CTO, Director, and another Manager. All was well with the first two interviews and they were good experiences. I spent an hour with HR and then a good two hours with the Director. The last interview that included the CTO was very awkward and an overall bad experience. Apparently you don't need people skills to become a CTO. I'm not sure what was up but he didn't like me the minute I stepped through the door. Very weak handshake and not inviting at all. Body language was standoffish and he barely spoke. Just a cold stare and when I tried to engage with him he looked away. I was quick to wrap up that interview and held it to just 30 minutes. I walked out of there thinking, even if they do offer me the job, I can't work under him. I was later told that he is a nice guy, just very shy. I guess... My feeling was that he had something against me. I have given plenty interviews and I'm sure all my candidates walk away feeling welcomed and appreciated even after being grilled. It looks like they had a hard time filling that position as it was reposted...

      Interview

Three steps to the interview process with varying questions. Most of the inquiries were related to how you would work within the environment and what you liked about the job posting.

      Interview

Interviewed with IHerb almost 3 months making it to the end of the process. But just for the management team to change the role and decline all candidates. Complete disappointment and waste of time; not only this their communication was horrible. Updates on the process would be every 2-3 weeks which should have been a warning sign. I would ask for updates on the process waiting days or weeks for it. Be wary of what you interview for and who. Seems they kept us as backup while they decided on changing the role completely.
