      Sales Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at goodr (CA) (Los Angeles, CA) in Apr 2026

      Interview

Applied for a role and was asked to complete a quirky assignment (drawing an octopus fighting a pirate). After submitting, I received a rejection email stating: “It was a pleasure speaking with you about the [role]. It’s always awesome learning more about a person and their professional experience. Your octopus fighting pirate art will forever be memorialized in our archives.” The issue is, I never had a conversation with anyone at the company. This kind of templated messaging suggests a lack of attention to candidate experience and raises questions about how organized or authentic the hiring process really is. If a company positions itself as thoughtful and people-focused, basic alignment between communication and reality seems like a reasonable expectation. Asking candidates to invest time in creative tasks is fine, but it makes the follow-through matter even more. Without that, the process feels less like a genuine evaluation and more like a checkbox exercise.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We want to acknowledge our mistake in sending you incorrect communication. This was an internal error and not reflective of the level of care we aim to bring to every candidate interaction. We’re truly sorry if that automated response felt impersonal or gave the impression that we don’t value the time and effort that goes into submitting an application. While parts of our process are automated, our hiring experience is led by a real, human team, and they put a great deal of thought and care into creating a positive experience for every candidate, regardless of the outcome. We’re always seeking to refine our process and we appreciate you calling this out.

I applied through other source. I interviewed at goodr (CA)

      Interview

A Bloated, Disrespectful, and Exhausting Interview Process - Avoid This Circus. After nearly 10 rounds of interviews with goodr, including a full-scale strategic project and live presentation to eight people - I walked away with a complete loss of time, energy, and respect for this company. I poured days into building a custom, highly detailed deck and presentation. The feedback in the room? Rave reviews. But no one ever even asked for the work after. No follow-up, no interest, no acknowledgment. In fact, some on the panel even seemed weirdly annoyed that I had put in so much effort. (Make that make sense.) Then, barely 24 hours later, I get a cold phone call telling me I didn’t get the job — no reason, no feedback, just a “thanks for your time.” After what amounted to multiple weeks of unpaid consulting, it felt like a giant slap in the face. The whole process reeked of disorganization, performative interest, and poor leadership alignment. If this is how they treat senior candidates - dragging them through hoops with zero regard - I can’t imagine what it’s like to actually work there. To anyone considering going through this process: think twice. Companies that value your time, energy, and experience don’t do this. I know I dodged a bullet deep down but I’m so annoyed .

We're genuinely sorry to hear that your experience with our interview process left you feeling this way. We appreciate the time and energy you put into the process, especially in preparing the presentation you shared. We know how much effort that takes and do not take it lightly. We do want to clarify a few points for the sake of transparency: our standard process for this role as it is a senior leadership position includes six interview rounds, not ten. The final-round project is designed to help candidates showcase their thinking and approach. We never use or repurpose any work submitted by candidates during the interview process, so the fact that we did not ask for a copy of your work post-interview had nothing to do with the quality of the work and everything to do with our commitment to an ethical hiring process. You had requested an expedited decision due to another offer on the table, and we aimed to honor that by calling you as soon as possible. While we generally try to notify all candidates within 24 to 48 hours, we understand that how the message is delivered and received matters. We do make it a point to always call candidates with our decisions rather than email, and we encourage anyone who interviews with us to call or email if they would like specific feedback. At goodr, we are continually working to improve our hiring process and we strive to create an interview experience rooted in clarity, respect, and mutual appreciation. Your feedback has been shared with our team and will help us refine how we support candidates at every stage. Thank you again for the time and effort you invested. We wish you all the best in your next opportunity.
