      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at ZapLabs in Mar 2018

      Interview

I applied for the Android Engineer Intern through ZapLabs's company website. Their response is extremely slow. After completing the online coding challenge, the recruiter contacted me for a phone screen, I was then contacted again after a whole month. A whole month of nothing, then I had two phone interviews, the interviewers were very nice and had good experience with interviewers. But HR seems very inefficient at getting back to people about the hiring process and status. The whole process took about 2 months, and even now I am sure they have hired someone, they still have not gotten back to me about not choosing to move forward with the process. But it is okay, I have already accepted a better offer elsewhere. Good luck hiring and retaining talents with this screening process.

      Application

I applied through university. I interviewed at ZapLabs (Emeryville, CA) in Mar 2017

      Interview

After being recruited through a campus career fair, I did a phone interview with the Android team. Their phone was very low quality and I could barely understand the questions being asked. Anyways, the onsite interview was mostly just going over my resume. The staff interviewing me seemed like they didn't really know what to ask me, and the one technical problem I received was very straightforward (anagrams). However, after being told I had an offer, the recruiter told me I had to accept verbally before they sent out a written offer letter (very sketchy). They later reneged my offer after not responding to emails/calls. They also reneged one of my friends, who also received an "offer" to intern there for the summer. If you're a college student, stay far away from ZapLabs. They offer very sub-par salaries and have unethical hiring practices. There are many (better) startups in the Bay Area who will actually respect you!
